BIOSPHERE RESPONSIBLE TOURISM Certification, sponsored by Instituto de Turismo Responsable (ITR), recognize and certify the touristic industry that have a sustainable management and, therefore, they are examples of sustainability in the international tourism.Destinations, Enterprises, Establishments and Tourist Products have assumed the sustainable touristic management model promotes by ITR, which is acknowledged publicly through the BIOSPHERE label.BIOSPHERE is a voluntary certification based on the principles of sustainable development. The BIOSPHERE's standards have specific criteria on environmental, cultural and socioeconomic performance. The label is granted to establishments in different countries around the world.ITR is a non-profit organization that maintain a MoU with UNESCO and it's a member of the UNWTO and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), which has supported by the United Nations Foundation and the UNEP.
