Best Vista Tune Free offers an array of options for managing your PC's operating system, network, and utilities, but its name is deceiving. Several of its features are only available in the pro version.

The program's bright blue-on-blue user interface was hard on the eyes, but proved fairly easy to navigate. You'll find three categories--information, tweaks, and utilities. Each offers a different way to manage your operating system, hardware, and network, although some features weren't enabled in the free version. As we browsed the program, it quickly pulled up operating system and hardware information, including memory and CPU feature availability. It comes with a lot of options for tweaking your hard drive, RAM, mouse, and CD/DVD. The utilities feature neatly displayed all of Vistas utilities in one window. You'll also get one-click access to the Registry editor and disk defrag tool.

We liked having everything under one roof, but weren't happy that we couldn't access any info regarding our networks settings, tweak our operating system, or access the custom utilities and wizard with the freeware version. Still, the options that we were allowed to access make Best Vista Tune Free worth the download.
