• Each version takes more away in functionality

  Pros

  I used to like the now extinct capabilities to build a query using a gui similar to MS Access and being able to export my query results.

  Cons

  I don't like the fact that technical support recommended I download the latest version without telling me that I would be losing so much functionality.

  Summary

  The freeware product used to work great for lightweight queries, allowed you to export your results, and simplified the query building with a GUI similar to the old MS ACCESS. On the down side, high volume queries (transaction type records) took hours to complete, if ever. I had written to their technical support about how slow the processing was and their response was that there was nothing they could do, but suggested upgrading to the newest version. Once the new version was downloaded and installed, I discovered that I no longer had the query builder nor the ability to export my results. I understand the need to eventually convert freeware users to paying customers, but I would have appreciated a little warning that the newer versions of the freeware would be taking away so much functionality. Had I know the new version was so limited, I would never have allowed the upgrade. It certainly sours me on the vendor when I feel I have been tricked into having to purchase the professional version. I was planning to purchase a license for the professional product once we had the new budget available, but now I will hold off an shop around to see what other products are out there for a similar price.
