Aidfile Recovery Software Professional gives you the tools to recover files that may have been lost or deleted from your computer. Depending on the type of file you're trying to recover and its location, you can choose between several different scanning options.
Clear process: This program does a good job of guiding you through the scanning process. Options are laid out on a clear, if not pretty, interface, and you can initiate the type of scan you want with just a few clicks.
Cluttered reporting: The report window that you see after a scan is completed is divided into three sections, and none of them are really big enough to display the entirety of the file or folder names they contain. And while you can adjust the sizes of the display windows within the main window, your only options for the main window, itself, are small or fullscreen, neither of which are particularly convenient to work with.
Scanning options: Once you've selected the type of scan you'd like to perform, you have to select the drive you'd like to scan. You can only scan one at a time, no matter how many you have. So if you're not sure which drive the files you're looking for are on, you could spend a lot of time searching. You also can't specify the type of file you'd like to recover, so you'll always have to sift through a ton of unwanted files to find the one you're after.
Aidfile Recovery Software Professional does deliver all of the features it promises. But there are a few areas in which it is clearly outpaced by other similar programs. The trial version offers only the ability to scan, but not to recover, and a license for the full version costs $69.95.
Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Aidfile Recovery Software Professional 3.6.5.7.
