Open/close your CD drives, reboot, shut down your system, and more.
From the developer: "AbsoluteControl offers wide range of OS control tools available on single click. It can set your screen resolution with highest possible refresh rate, open\close your CD drives, reboot, shutdown, poweroff, hibernate and send to standby mode your system. Web-search available with one click! AbsoluteControl handles ALL Microsoft operating systems, runs in background and is 156 kb only including extended help system! Having AbsoluteControl installed on your W9x, WME, NT, W2K or XP machine lets you take full control of OS' features with just a click!"
I needed a program that would allow me to operate my CD trays. My case is black and kept under my desk. Usually I use my excellent sense of tough to find the buttons, but I end up opening the wrong drive. This program lets me open and close my drive trays easily and quickly. The program is located in your system tray, and a simple right-click brings up the small menu. Considering how tricked-out my computer is and the time invested into making it sharp, fumbling with the open/close buttons always frustrated me. It was like having a Ferrari Enzo with door handles made for very very small hands. Now my Ferrari has a keyless-entry system!
Cons
As far as the video-control aspect of this program, let me just say this: Most video cards ship with software that allows you to control the resolution and color depth ANYWAYS! Why would you need this program for that? My ATI x300 at work came with the Catalyst software, which runs in my system tray, and allows me quick access to video resolution and color depth. My NVidia at home has similar software. Even my on-board video for my Asus and Intel motherboards has software for this. But since Absolute Control features control for it, it should be reviewed... Mine worked perfectly. I couldn't go to the highest resolution, which was 1600x1280, but that is because my graphics card doesn't support it. Since others who reviewed are using this program instead of their video card's software, I have to assume that they have an old video card, or no video card. There's a very good chance that an old card, or on-board video, doesn't support high resolutions.

I wanted to find free software that allowed me to change my screen resolution, color depth and refresh rate quickly and easily. This did not do it.
Good tool, but can be improved

Summary
AbsoluteControl is a vergood tool that works.
Unfortunately there are a few thing i'd encourage the developer to improve:
-Shortcuts for the commands
-make it possible, that the monitor doesn't wake up on mouse movement, but only by a keystroke.
Hope the man who developed this fine piece of software reads that! :-)

Nice functionality; however, it makes 2 entries in startup key, and there is a nag screen which is annoying (as usual).
