This simple countdown timer gets the job done effectively, but offers few frills in doing so. The colorful interface of .NET Timer 2 is straightforward, with three buttons and two input boxes for setting the number of minutes and seconds. We found it very easy to use; after setting the number of minutes and seconds, press Start and time begins winding down. You also can pause and stop the timer. As the countdown reaches the final 10 seconds, you'll hear a beep in every second and a long hum signifies the end of the countdown. You won't be able to customize the alarm sound nor will you be able to set the timer in hours. Although it's freeware, it does require you to register with name, e-mail, state, country, and zip code prior to installation. Anyone seeking an uncomplicated timer application will find that .NET Timer 2 will suffice.
