Does EXACTLY What It Claims To Do
khamma- Pros
- Easy to figure out. Easy to use. Does a quick and accurate job.
- Cons
- No Cons. None.
- Summary
- This is just what I was looking for - something to rename groups of files. I have a need to change the extensions of files. So - that's what I was looking for. I downloaded several batch renamers but couldn't figure out how to do this one thing. Then I tried this little gem and had it all done in about 30 seconds. Once the job is done, a before and after shot give you the opportunity to undo. Unlike one of the other posters, I found it easy to figure out and believe me, I am no programmer.

Updated on Dec 21, 2010
Ignore my review. I wish there were a way for me to deleted it entirely. I had no luck with RenameIt! The other poster was right. It is difficult to figure out and I never did work out how to rename an extension. The review I posted should have been for Extension Renamer. I've kept RenameIt on my system to make other changes to file names but it is difficult for me to use.
Works but isn't easy to figure out.
skaizun- Pros
- Fast, accurate, thorough.
- Cons
- Difficult to figure out; 3-line "help" isn't helpful; results don't display.
- Summary
- It took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to use it (i.e., it is not intuitive), but, once I did, I was very surprised at how quickly (seconds!) and correctly (100%!) it renamed all the files in my folder from upper to lower case (it would have taken me at least half an hour to do the same thing by hand or even via a DOS batch file). It has other functions, but I didn't need or use them, so I can't talk about them. I'm probably being a little stingy with the rating, but, if the mechanism isn't intuitive (I have over 30 years experience as a computer programmer!), and if there isn't decent "help" available, then it is not a perfect program. Having said that, someone with a good background in computer usage (not necessarily a programmer, like me) shouldn't have too much of a problem with it.
Great for mass cropping of filenames
cublynx- Pros
- Works in Windows 7 64 bit Ultra Mass cropping renaming rules are done in sequence as you specified Drag/Drop before/after view of file names before you commit Does ID3 Tagging as well
- Cons
- Help section, for newer people to a product like this, needs more information I think.
- Summary
- great for bulk renaming/cropping of files: Example: [Taka]_Naruto_Shippuuden_###_[720p][2A44F92F] lets say you had 5 files of this type, where the ### represents the episode number this program. It lets you mass crop the [Take]_ and the _[720p][2A44F92F] at the end of the file. (cropping means taking out from charactor position to charactor position, so it doesn't matter what the text is while its in that segment to be cropped) After that, you can rename the extra bits in the middle of you wanted to with this program.
Not bad, but not a lot of options

- Summary
- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
A good product that works best with files all named similarly only with differently-numbers, such as photo001, photo002, etc. It shows its limitations when you have to do more, although it will crop filenames and change cases well. A good tool to have, but could be better.
