Windows has built-in disk management tools, and they do a pretty good job, but many users turn to third-party software for more robust solutions. Easeus Partition Master Professional Edition combines three of the most essential disk management utilities in one easy-to-use package. Its Partition Manager performs all essential disk formatting and maintenance functions, but it does much more, such as extending NTFS disk partitions without rebooting. The Partition Recovery Wizard helps recover damaged partitions and lost, corrupted, or accidentally erased data, and the Disk & Partition Copy Wizard feature makes it easy to copy a partition or an entire disk drive and migrate the data to a new drive.
Easeus Partition Master performed all the basic disk management functions we've seen in Windows and other disk management utilities, including creating, formatting, moving, deleting, and merging partitions; converting file systems; disk defragmentation; and even wiping disks clean. However, several of the program's recovery-oriented features stand out, such as the ability to easily convert dynamic disks to basic disks without losing data, which helps when extending partitions or repurposing older disks. Another feature we like is the ability to create a bootable recovery CD or DVD. It can rebuild a damaged Master Boot Record to make a disk bootable again, something that would have come in handy more than once in our past disasters. And we especially commend its ability to easily and completely copy your entire main drive to another disk, such as an older disk you've replaced; a mirror-image copy is better than any compressed backup file.
Though Easeus Partition Master Professional's busy interface isn't the most attractive or up-to-date design, it's efficient and functional, with clearly labeled icons for most functions and a basic Windows-style layout of toolbars, navigation pane, and main display. Still, as a set of useful utilities, each of which improves on Windows' native capabilities, it's well worth a look.
