This multitrack recorder allows you to record, overdub, and mix WAV and MIDI tracks (see screen shot). All you need is a full-duplex sound card (capable of simultaneous recording and playback) and some free space on your hard drive (WAV files tend to be large). Simultaneous recording from multiple sound cards is also supported. Audio effects can be applied to each track: current effects include echo, chorus, compression, and third-party standard DirectX. When all the tracks have been recorded and all the settings are correct, you can mix down all the tracks to a single WAV file for storing the song and eventually recording it to a compact disc using a CD-ROM drive.

In this shareware version, rendering (mixdown) to a single WAV file is disabled, real-time effects work only on the first track, and no more than two nonoverlapping WAV files can coexist in a single track. Version 2.1.4 added performance improvements and bug fixes. The latest version adds support for VST effects and instruments and ASIO 24 bit soundcards. Also, integrates graphical EQ for each track.

Note: If Windows 98 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or later are not installed on your system, you'll also need to install the Microsoft Common Controls Update.
