Have never been ablt to download a complete file. I have broadband and mlMac is slower than mollases in January. Doesn't even compare to X-Factor or Limewire -

Files take too long, or dont even start. Also, if you quit, then later when you go back online again, the downloads 75% through a large file, wont download any more of it. Limewire is better, but if you want good results and dont care about speed, it should be good

Hi to all,
mlMac is probably one of the best ideas ever for MacOsX.
But unfortunately, it does not work as it should.
If I try to download 2 or 3 files over 1Gb, it says "Insufficient hard disk space". Is 225Gb insufficient to download 4 files that are about 1,25Gb ?
But that's not the major bug.
For a lot of time now, I've been noticing that all my downloads stop when there are about 10Mb left to download. And there, the download stands still. Maybe it's just coincidence, but every time it is the same : I get the first 700Mb in about 2 or 3 days, and then, it stops downloading that file. ANd after 3 weeks I still do not have the last 10Mbâ?¦ So, in 3 months, I only got 2 files under 10 Mb and all the others : nothing !
ANd here comes the worst thing :
Maybe it is because I am behind a routerâ?¦ But if mlMac is not running, I can have DSL connections that will last for about 420 hours in a row. If mlMac is running, the best time I can have is 3 hours. Which isn't really convenient because the downloads stops even if I am reconnected at once, and of course, because the transfers are slower on reconnection than they were before lossing connection !
So get it, it's free. But expect some trouble !

I've been using mlmac for nearly a year now and so far I liked the program very much. But then yesterday I upgraded to the new version 0.7.5 (I don't even know why!! if you don't experience any trouble why should you upgrade??!! If I could only turn back time!) I launched, selected "use local daemon" (only to read later in the mlmac forum you're supposed to trash your local mlnet anyway!! didn't say anything about that in the read me!!) and then the most terrible thing happened. mlmac just replaced the whole "mlmac temp" directory that contained my ini's and what's more important: my partial downloads!! 7,5 GB's or 44 temporary files that I had been downloading for several months now. All gone forever!! since it just replaced my directory instead of trashing the odl one there was no chance of recovering them with norton einther. then after recovering from this shock I tried to use the new version but it just keeps crashing and crashing and doing the same thing as with all the other users complaining here. so I suggest (unless you got a backup of your several-gigabyte-temp folder) do not upgrade to 0.7.5!!!! seems from the reviews I am not the only victim here! -

nightmare. lost all previous downloads. can't make head or tale. constantly asking me if i want to download new version 7.5 and entering into a never ending cycle of download install download install until i eventually quit. i've lost all the files i was downloading and am going to trash it and look for something else. suks. just when it was going so well they come and *censored* in your lift... makes you wonder... -

Plain and simple: mlMac, a GUI to mlDonkey, gets you all the files you ever need, period. It finds you files that Poisoned or Kazaa can't.
If you upgraded from mlMac 0.7.2, chances are you are now looking at a seemingly blank window with nameless files. Do not panic. Your downloads are all right. Just go "Open Web Interface...", or type "localhost:4080" in your web browser, and you'll see that the filenames are there. This could be a problem with mlMac 0.7.5. What I ended up doing is move my Temp folder out of mlMac folder (the one inside Application Support), delete my mlMac folder, restart mlMac, replace the Temp folder with the one I saved, and do a recover_temp. Slightly annoying, perhaps, but still a lot better than going over to Poisoned (Kazaa). -

The previous version had some bugs - they are gone, at least on my machine. The connections are more reliable, several of the old downloads finally started to get going, and the buttons work as they are supposed to - no reasons to complain at all. -

Can't find any particular negative point about mlmac when I compare it to experiences with a number of popular PC filesharing programmes:
+ the pool of available movie, audio and data files is very big (connects well to Kazaa and audiogalaxy)
+ download rates can be super high as well as crawling (guess what: depends on the connection)
+ never crashed on my machine (run Panther OS)
+ very easy user interface and no fine-tuning necessary
