CNET Editors' review
JAlbum is a long-time favorite free Web album generator. There's no wizard to direct you through the process, but a quick look through the menus will be enough to get you started creating image collections online.
To begin, specify the original image folder, set the album-destination folder, select the images, and generate the album--it's really not more complicated than that. Using the integrated FTP client, you can upload your album to your Web site or you can use the integrated Web server to serve your album from your computer. The JAlbum site also lets you post your projects to their Web hosting service for free, as long as you don't mind registering your name and e-mail address. There are several great-looking templates and skins to choose from, with more skins available online from JAlbum.
Recent versions include a lot of new tools, most notably a photo editor for basic manipulations, such as red-eye removal and cropping. If you've been looking for a new way to post your photos, JAlbum is a great choice with an extremely easy-to-use interface and plenty of options to create the perfect album.
Publisher's Description
From JAlbum AB:
JAlbum allows you to create nice-looking photo galleries for the Web. You simply select or drag and drop folders containing images or movie files onto JAlbum, and it creates thumbnails and HTML pages to publish your images as a gallery or as a picture slide show. The galleries are based on various templates, and their appearance can be further customized by advanced users. The application's additional features include support for IPTC or EXIF data, style sheets, and loss less image manipulation, pluggable image filters, a built-in FTP or SFTP client and a built-in web server that allows anyone to share Web albums straight from their own computers.
What's new in this version: Version 10.8 provides a native way to add a link to your homepage from the albums and new and faster loading splash screen.

"Very bad web site in terms of support - poor poor poor"
Version: jAlbum 10.8
Pros
Package may be good - but their own web site is not!
Cons
Decided to buy their "Pro" version. They asked to set up user account, provide email, and create password. Then I purchase, paid the $39. To activate my account, I had to quick reply on a confirmation email I never received. So I figured I might have sent a wrong email address (they did not require a re-type of the email address). But now it turns out I cannot get support without being logged in, which I can't because I could not confirm using the email I never received. In addition, I can't activate the paid-for product. THERE IS NOT EVEN A HELP EMAIL ADDRESS PUBLICLY AVAILABLE.
Summary
I would not use them until they improve their web site. Once you actually paid, you should be treated like a client, not like someone who needs to be "verified". This stinks!
