"does not work"
Version: iGetter X 2.8
Pros
none does not work
Cons
does not work
-
"No good for software updates"
Version: iGetter X 2.8
Pros
Can't say - Haven't tried all the features yet
Cons
It doesn't help with Apple's very large updates. I have a slow connection that keeps breaking involved much manual reconnecting, but it seems iGetter doesn't deal with that ...Pity... am I possibly missing some or other setting?

"Fantastic! Made wifi downloading much easier!"
Version: iGetter X 2.8
Pros
-Restarts dropped downloads automatically
- Faster downloading time
-Schedule downloads
-Can optimize download que.
-Free (can register, would if I had $, I wish there was a donation option though, because I would like to do something)Cons
-A bit hard to integrate with safari, but once you find directions in igetter help, works great! Just click on any download link and it will download in igetter. Directions to do this should be more prominent though.
-Interface design not attractive.Summary
Great way to speed up downloading time, particularly if you have an unreliable internet connection. Never start and stop dropped links again! Load downloads into igetter, set to start automatically or start a que and forget about it, until your downloads are ready to install!

"Could be better"
Version: iGetter X 2.8
Pros
FAST downloads
Cons
Poor integration with 64 bit Safari.
Summary
Doesn't catch many downloads with 64 bit Safari but does OK with FFox.Also seems to have no problems with downloaded files.Same can't be said for other DL Accelerators.

"FAST downloads"
Version: iGetter X 2.7.5
Pros
I usually download at 235-300kb from my browser. I reached speeds up to 1,400kb with iGetter. What a difference! It ties in with Safari and Firefox and automatically downloads files you click on from the browser.
Cons
Using the program without the browser is a bit confusing. Its obviously designed to be a batch processor like Compressor and is just about as confusing. I'm sure, once I get past the learning curve, it will be much easier.
Summary
You don't realize how much you NEED faster downloads until you have iGetter. Its kind of like going from floppies to a hard drive. You were always happy with those floppies until that first time you used a hard drive.

"where is the binary version?"
Version: iGetter X 2.4
Summary

It's about time for a binary version and a general clean up of the application better scheduled downloading etc. -
"Not Worth the Trouble"
Version: iGetter X 2.4
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I do a lot of downloading, and I see no benefit in this application. Like every other download manager/accelerator I have tried, I see no difference in the speed of my downloads using a 3.0 MBPS DSL connection.
It DOES, however add a pain-in-the-ass factor. I end up with multiple copies of downloads, or downloads that never started, etc.
Restarting a stuck download from a download service is cumbersome at best--if it works at all.
Stick with the built in downloader in your browser unless you are having trouble. Save these things for use as a last resort. -
"Very Good!"
Version: iGetter X 2.4
Summary

I am very happy with this software and look forward to more improvements, streamlining and optimization (including a smaller memory footprint and such). Keep up the good work! Best downloader for Mac OS X that I've used aside from wget from the shell which I use perhaps a little more often than this. -
"One of my first purchased software"
Version: iGetter X 2.3
Summary

I look 2 things on a download manager
1) Stability
2) Configuration options.
Thanks to its modern core-ui seperate design this application never failed. You could have 1000 other features but if your download manager stops and corrupts file at 99%, its not a download manager, its waste of time.
On not so stable Tiger, its one of my rare applications doesn't have a single entry at crash reporter.
I definitely recommend it as a versiontracker pro user. Its so good so I doubleclick updates instead of downloading from vt pro (while it has a good dl manager) to get via iGetter, especially "Big" updates.
As VT promises next version will be able to select a download manager to use (whatever can handle), it will rock. -
"Good download manager"
Version: iGetter X 2.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Works well. And customer service is fast.
Some room for improvement though:
Better Applescript support.
Support for download and post-processing rules.
Better support for site preferences (range of IP adress, etc...)
