"Works well for what I needed"

    March 18, 2013  |   By Lizinvabch

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

Stuck at home without a phone- left my car at the car repair place (with my phone in it by accident) I just needed to get in touch w the shop, for less than 5 mins.

    Cons

Can't think of any, because I won't be using it for more than 5 min calls.

    Pros

obvious and easy to navigate, not up to par with googletalk

"Great for people who can read/understand instructions"

    October 9, 2012  |   By chinamikey

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

    100% give what it promises.

    Cons

Evidently can't be used by the average human monkey.

    Summary

It does what it says. You get free 5 minute calls. End of story. I read the previous reviews and all the negative ones had to do with either:
People trying to blame the software when it was their own system that is obviously buggy
People trying to use it on the mobile phone--I ask, WHY? it's designed to be used mainly from your PC, not mobile phones. Stop complaining, read directions and TOS carefully, and if you haven't fallen out of your tree yet, then perhaps you can use it.

    "A godsend for broke geeks"

    August 6, 2011  |   By Vodage

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

Allows you to call someone's cellphone without paying for telephone service. Cheaper than a payphone, and easier to find as well. Leftover money can be used to pay for more important things, e.g. beer, cigarettes, internet bill, MMORPG account

    Cons

If you want to have a long phone conversation with some noob who doesn't have voip installed on their cellie, I guess there'd be a major problem with a 30-second interrupt every five minutes.

    Summary

If you compare this to a telephone, of course it's going to seem like a 1-or-2-star thing. Compare it to a cheap VOIP service. Hell, the sound quality easily beats MagicJack and Vonage, and imo it sounds better than MetroPCS as well. Doesn't compare to Skype, but anyone with a brain, a laptop, and a wi-fi hotspot is taking full advantage of that application already. In fact, anyone with a brain, a cell phone, and the ability to make an extra 3 dollars a month has skype on their phone, and can recieve calls from phoneless PC users everywhere. Granted S2G has some limits, (10,000 minutes per month, 6 hours per day, 50 different numbers per day) But I digress.
iCall is a godsend to someone like me, who does the majority of his networking over the internet. A program that actually dials out for free (time limit be damned) is excruciatingly rare. I've checked.

"The software is junk and not worth it."

    July 30, 2011  |   By KewlKat007

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

Make calls.. But not for long.

    Cons

Has a five minute time limit on call which they normally don't tell you on the main page.

    Summary

It's a piece of junk. They brag how it's free and it's ad-supported. So in other words you listed to a 30-second or longer advertisement just to be able to talk for five minutes?

At first I couldn't even hang up calls b/c the app was freezing and locking up. When I did get it working after a few disconnected calls I dig a little deeper in the website and find it's a five-minute limit on free calls.

    "Not good, do not recommend"

    April 29, 2011  |   By CA2198

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

    None that I see

    Cons

    Multiple issues, use another VOIP

    Summary

Not worth your time or money. Very, very bad experience with this. The worst.

"Not worth it...use google voice instead"

    April 2, 2011  |   By chiflado8

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

    Good concept

    Cons

    1. Not really free...calls disconnected after 5 minutes
    2. Not able to use it over 3G/4G, wifi only
    3.

    Summary

Why use this when you can use Google Voice for free. With Google voice you can even use it with your mobile carrier network (3G/4G). Do yourself a favor and get Google Voice instead.

    "Freezer Burn..."

    February 16, 2011  |   By Aviator5456

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

Great Idea and good user interface...

    Cons

Where to start....very buggy....free version limits calls to 5 minutes...didn't find that out until I was on a call and it disconnected me. I wouldn't use it until the bugs are worked out so I'm deleting it off my iPhone....too bad though.

    Summary

I got it to work a couple times but while loading, it would freeze up. I started to purchase the upgrade, decided to do more research and stopped in the middle of the process, not it just froze on the intro page "Finding Server" . Its garbage and full of bugs

"Places outgoing calls fine, 90% of incoming calls fail."

    January 14, 2011  |   By dcat917

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

Paid for it and It works great with the iPod Touch on placing calls. Voice quality is better than my Razor.

    Cons

I tried all kinds of variations in the receive mode, and the majority failed. I placed 3 different problems reports to support, and 2 weeks, no reply. Sent one from the iPod as well, that was a pain.

    Summary

I will not be renewing my subscription. This product is not ready for market yet. I used to be a QA engineer in VOIP and put this thing through the paces. On each successful attempt, I retested that combination and it would fail. All testing performed using my Verizon cell phone to place the calls.

    "Good idea but needs improvement"

    July 15, 2010  |   By cybernetic_doctor

    Version: iCall 4.0.0.20

    Pros

Works, free to an extent and has potential to become better.

    Cons

There is ads (they do not consider it adware or viruses) if you are using the free service.

    Summary

They had a good idea but this needs development and less bugs. The web version seem to work better than the software itself because it is also free but has no adware (if you want to call that advertising). It is not that good of a service and I would not recommend it if you have a cell phone. This can be convinient in some cases. The only one that work better for the software is the paid service which makes some users think that they care more about the money than the people and this is true.
