"Not even close to what time machine can do!"
Version: iBackup 7.1
Pros
It says what it does, but that's all nothing to brag about compared to time machine.
Cons
don't bother, time machine does a much better job.

"Best in its kind, it for more than 3 years."
Version: iBackup 6.7.3.4
Pros
Simple to use, simple to customize, limpid clear what you can do with it without reading any manual.
Cons
A false error message is displayed when modifying files, and then they are considered as mismatched. In fact, they are OK.
Summary
Even if 5 stars is perhaps too high, as there is no perfect human product on earth, I find iBackup best of its kind. I have tried Apple?s Backup and TM, Martin Jahn?s iBackup remains the best. Its creator has always been responsive to any suggestion and criticism.

Pros
NO pros to speak of
Cons

"Recommended"
Version: iBackup 6.6
Summary

I find this to be a very stable, reliable and easy-to-use backup program, with good documentation. While it doesn't do clones (duplicates of your hard drive) it is very useful for User folders and/or system and application preferences, Mail, etc, and is therefore an excellent value for someone who is looking for a basic backup. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. -

iBackup is the first of the simple backup apps to actually work well with Microsoft servers. It live log feature is welcome. The use of normal Unix calls is comfortable. -
"Too confusing."

Setting up backups too confusing. It's faster for me just to copy over the files I want saved to an external drive. Also, I ended up somehow with two Documents folders on the left column. -
"Does a good job"
Version: iBackup 6.0
Summary

I use this program as an adjunct to my regular backup program because it has an easy format for saving specific system and application preferences. That way I don't have to root around in my old user Library for the preferences I need when it comes time to do a restore. It takes a while for the program to start up for some reason, but maybe it's just collecting information, I don't know. Seems quite reliable and everything is logged and plain to see. -
"best of its kind"
Version: iBackup 5.2.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Best of its kind. Users of Panther should NOT use these newer versions though, they are designed for ppc / intel compatibility of the current Tiger, and forthcoming Leopard. Older versions, even if somewhat limited, will do the same in Panther, there is no reason for panic.
Perhaps the author should post a clearer warning on this. -
"5.1.7 works w/Tiger"
Version: iBackup 5.1.7

if you know what you're doing and can decide exactly what files folders you want to back up, this is a hard to beat app.
It's fast and hasn't messed me yet. I've been using it for a year or so.
