Publisher's description of eBoostr 2.0 build 417
From eBoostr:The eBoostr application allows you to use an additional drive (flash memory or hard disk) or free RAM as another layer of performance-boosting cache. This is an alternative to ReadyBoost and SuperFetch technologies available for Windows XP users. With the newly developed eBoostr, the booting of your OS and applications startup get much faster thanks to the smart caching mechanism.
Version 2.0 build 417 features the SuperFetch functionality, a special battery save mode for laptops and an option to exclude some files or locations from caching.

Version: eBoostr 2.0 build 417
Pros: It really increases the speed.
Cons: it doesn't support all the software. it seems it depends on the memory we allocate in the removable drive. i don't know why it uses high commit range

"Noticeable increased performance - no problems"
Pros: Works really well. Works more like raid than extra RAM.
Cons: They don't answer my e-mail regarding how eboostr ensures that always the newest file versions are cached

"Expect no support from them and a crash of the app."
Pros: It appears to help sometimes. Other times it does nothing but take up memory and a USB slot.
Cons: No support and no response to emails. Application crashes for me when my system is left on overnight.

"Great for limited machines like UMPCs"
Pros: This program provided a substantial performance increase for my Vulcan Flipstart. This UMPC is limited to a non-upgradable 512MB RAM, and a slow 1.8" hard drive (15-23ms seek time...eek). Boot time is improved only slightly. Explorer windows (My Computer, My Documents, Control Panel, etc.) and Windows applications are at least 3-4 times faster. Larger apps like Photoshop are about twice as fast. MS Office is about 2-3 times as fast too. Also recovery from closing a large app like a game is greatly improved. Applications and windows are much more snappy.
Remember, this application will not do much for higher-end machines. Also, its performance is directly related to the Read AND Write speed of the Flash drive you use. The flash I'm using has an average 32MB/sec read speed and 17MB/sec write speed - which is pretty good for flash.
Cons: None I can find so far. I have only been using the application for about three days so far. Time will tell.
