CNET Editors' review
This mostly standard audio utility simply converts files and rips CDs, but it works without a hitch. dBpowerAmp Music Converter has separate interfaces for extracting audio from discs and batch converting tunes. In our tests, the program showed good speed. It can even rip some protected audio CDs and includes a basic player.
It queries CD information from the Web and can automatically create subfolders and name tracks. To keep the download size small, it only includes MP3 (LAME) and WAV codecs, though you can easily download and install additional components from the publisher's site. Similar to other utilities in this genre, dBpowerAmp Music Converter lets you determine the audio quality of your new files, though it also offers an ample number of presets.
Also, unlike some competing programs, this demo will let you rip or transform as many files as you like for a full month. Most people who rip and convert audio files occasionally will find something to like about dBpowerAmp Music Converter, particularly novices.

From Illustrate:
Often called the Swiss Army Knife of audio, dMC can digitally rip sound from audio CDs to a multitude of formats. Convert from one format to another while preserving ID tags. Nearly every audio type is supported, including MP3, MP4, Windows Media Audio (WMA), Ogg Vorbis, AAC, Monkey's Audio, and FLAC (with optional installs from Codec Central). For Windows Explorer integration, right-click Convert To and pop up useful information on audio files (such as bit rate and length). Record from LPs with Auxiliary Input.
Version 11.0 features the standard inclusion of Auxiliary Input and File Selector; a higher-quality MP3 decoder (LAME 3.96.1); support for 32-bit WAV IEEE; Unicode tagging transfers; a Power Pack trial included as standard and a license for the MP3 encoder in the trial; smart-install codecs; and new DSP effects (a graphic equalizer and dithering-down bit depth). Finally, dBpowerAmp can supply column information in Windows Explorer (much more refined than Windows standard audio columns).
dBpowerAMPs mp3 encoder (writer) is on a time limited 30-day trial license, illustrate has provided a 100% free encoder for many years, but a legal challenge (claims of patent infringement) has forced a change, the world cannot have a free mp3 encoder so it seems. illustrate must now charge for the mp3 encoding license. This license is purchased through the Power Pack license (a series of enhancements to dBpowerAMP: Faster CD Ripping, Handles Compilation CDs, Preview CDs, ID Tag Editing, DSP Sound Effects and more)...all for $14.

"Excellent Converter"
Version: dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.0
Pros
Converts to and from nearly any audio format.
Upgrading to the Powerpack adds tons of features and include licence for MP3s.
Even more powerful when combined with the dBPoweramp music player, making an invaluable audio suite of programs. (music player is free, but has added benifits when you've purchased the Powerpack).
$14 registration is well worth what you get!
Version 11.5, to be released shortly, has alot of improvements, making this program even better!
Cons
Bit of a learning curve. Not all features are intuitive, but once you've mastered them, watch out!
The free version is good (unless you want to record MP3s), but if you really want to see this program shine, you've got to pay (but it's worth it!).

"A GREAT program"
Version: dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.0
Pros
It becomes default ripper, that utilizes Lame technology as compression program.
Set the program parameters to suit you.
dBpoweramp also pardners to retrieve title information for the cd being ripped.
Choose the amount of compression right for you.
320 bitrate is studio quality.
224 is cd quality, but a superior sound card is needed, making 192 optimal.
160 is acceptable.
128 saves space.
It's all up to you.

"Outstanding product for music conversion !!!!!! $14 is not more for it"
Version: dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.0
Pros
1.CONVERSION QUALITY : quality is always superior than quantity. it's output quality is the best one of those products that i have tried earlier. I am a fan of this product since it's release version i.e. 4.01.
2. User Friendly : It is so easy to use it. a person who doesn't know anything about the computers can also handle it.
Cons
EVERYTHING IS OUTSTANDING IN IT. BUT A FEW MORE CONVERSION FORMATS ARE NEEDED WITH THE VERSION SO THAT ON CAN TEST IT ON EVERY PARAMETER

"Be careful!"
Version: dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.0
Pros
Great tool, almost set up perfectly. GUI is pretty good, expecially compared to their dbpoweramp player. Fast.
Cons
Too many features, can be confusing. DISABLE Getpopinfo.exe or else your computer will freeze up everytime you touch an mp3! Took me days to figure it out until I went to dbpoweramp website forum. If you disable it in Task Manager it will just come back! Disable it in dbconfiguration!

"Great Utility Program"
Version: dBpowerAmp Music Converter 11.0
Pros
Quick, Painless, Quality Conversion -- Audio Professional and I use it whenever I need to convert a lot of files. One of the first things I install on a new computer.
Cons
Sometimes the Windows Explorer Tooltips are a bother when going through and deleting files, because they get in the way (but you can turn that option off)
