Publisher's description of a-squared (a²) Personal 2.0

a-squared is a complementary product to antivirus software, which is specialized in protection against harmful software (Malware). Antivirus software often features an inadequate protection against Trojans, Dialers, Worms and Spyware. a-squared fills this gap. The scanner does a memory scan at start of each scan. Then, all selected folders are scanned with the high performance scan engine to remove Malware. But the best reason to use a-squared personal is the background guard. It's not a usual guard which scans files on access or on execution. The a-squared guard also contains the IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and the so called System Firewall. The IDS is a live behaviour analysing module. It monitors all running programs to detect harmful actions of Malware. If a process does anything harmful, it will be blocked. So a-squared is able to detect nearly all new Malwares also without signatures. The System Firewall allows you to put programs in sandboxes and set their rights on the PC.
