An effective and easy-to-use firewall program, ZoneAlarm does a great job of keeping your PC safe from a variety of threats. ZoneAlarm uses a simple wizard to make configuring a firewall, which seems like a daunting task to many computer users, incredibly easy. Maintaining and updating settings also is a snap when you're using the stylish interface and its simple slider controls. The program's Zones feature allows you to assign different security levels for a local network and for the Internet. The most notable addition to version 6.5.7 is small but quite helpful. A new "Game Mode" lets you automatically allow or deny alerts when you're in the middle of playing a video game. We found ZoneAlarm very good at recognizing and automatically including settings for our local network. In all our tests, the firewall guarded against all external and internal threats it encountered. ZoneAlarm is an excellent firewall choice for just about any average user.Publisher's description
From ZoneAlarm :ZoneAlarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers. This program includes four interlocking security services: a firewall, an application control, an Internet lock, and Zones. The firewall controls the door to your computer and allows only traffic you understand and initiate. The application control allows you to decide which applications can and cannot use the Internet. The Internet lock blocks Internet traffic while your computer is unattended or while you're not using the Internet, and it can be activated automatically with your computer's screensaver or after a set period of inactivity. Zones monitor all activity on your computer and alert you when a new application attempts to access the Internet. Version 6.5.7 addresses an inability to delete ZoneAlarm files in Safe Mode, as well as other fixes.
Note:ZoneAlarm is free for individual and not-for-profit charitable entity use (excluding governmental entities and educational institutions).

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.5.7
"Solid upgrade -- still doesn't detect AVG antivirus"
Pros: Easy to use and haven't noticed any problems with it compared to other past upgrades.
Cons: Uses a bit of memory, needs to be bulked down a little bit. Also, for the antivirus monitoring, AVG is not detected, that needs to be detected, millions of people use it, not everyone uses just McAfee or Norton antivirus these days!

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.5.7
"Attach it to your brand new PC"
Pros: When i've tried earlier to make connection from an XP SP 1, win2k (without patches) and from previous versions to the Internet, the computer was infected and attacked within the first 10 minutes. The general time was exactly or below 5 minutes for XP and XP Sp1 (even SP2). So basicly after some minutes i was attacked by trojan horses and spyware applications which eat up the system's most memory and CPU time (99%) and blocked all basic windows applications which would help to remove the disasters.
When i've tried a clean OS install with ZoneAlarm, i realized why it's really necessery to store at your backups: i was able to get all other system, anti-virus and other updates without the threats. I'm not a genius at network threats but it was able to block all of my tests.
It can recognise my AVG 7 Pro - and as i remember (tried too much months ago) - and it might recognise the AVG 7 Free as well.
Cons: Actually, I've seen much better GUIs over there.
It's not possible to get updates/upgrades as easily as a simple definition file: it's such a pain that you must install them manually (even at minor changes).
It's not the best tool - i don't know other ZA editions - to use it at home with more computers, sometimes you'll have to spend plenty of hours/days to create connection between your computers/laptops (and different systems, i tried with xp-xp and xp-98).
Also, i wouldn't recommend it next to file-shareing softwares (i'd rather recommend other firewall titles).

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.5.7
Pros: Always has worked well for me.
Cons: Anyone know if you have to completly uninstall version 6.177.44 before installing this new 6.5.7 version? It would suck having to reset all the settings....

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.5.7
Pros: I really like this firewall a lot.
It's easy to find your way around this program, and everything is quite straightforward.
It's best feature (in my opinion) is that it asks you for your confirmation for every single program that accesses the internet.
And it's free - who doesn't like freebies?
