An effective and easy-to-use firewall program, ZoneAlarm does a great job of keeping your PC safe from a variety of threats. ZoneAlarm makes configuring a firewall, which sounds like a daunting task to the majority of computer users, incredibly easy with a wizard. Maintaining and updating settings also is a snap when you're using the stylish interface and its simple slider controls. The program's Zones feature also allows you to assign different security levels for a local network and for the Internet. We found ZoneAlarm very good at recognizing and automatically including settings for our local network. In all our tests, the firewall guarded against all external and internal threats it encountered. Therefore, we think ZoneAlarm is an excellent firewall choice for just about any average user.Publisher's description
From ZoneAlarm :ZoneAlarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers. This program includes four interlocking security services: a firewall, an application control, an Internet lock, and Zones. The firewall controls the door to your computer and allows only traffic you understand and initiate. The application control allows you to decide which applications can and cannot use the Internet. The Internet lock blocks Internet traffic while your computer is unattended or while you're not using the Internet, and it can be activated automatically with your computer's screensaver or after a set period of inactivity. Zones monitor all activity on your computer and alert you when a new application attempts to access the Internet. Version 6.1.744 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
Note:ZoneAlarm is free for individual and not-for-profit charitable entity use (excluding governmental entities and educational institutions).

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.1.744
Pros: After my Mcafee free trial ended, I was in a major fix. Some reviews made me really suspicious of this firewall and I d'loaded other free firewalls listed on D.com......guys every other firewall screwed with my avast antivirus...I always got error messages and something always stopped my internet activity. Then I d'loaded filseclab (I even submitted a review). Filseclab seemed to work well but then even that firewall screwed up...same problems. I was thinking of paying for Mcafee when I decided to give this a try and its working! Almost two months and touchwood no problem. I have XP pro, avast and other free toprated spyware removal tools. After having tried many free firewalls, I have reached one conclusion: try which one works...and try this one first.
Cons: None till date!

"Need a firewall? Get this one"
Pros: If you need a firewall, you should get this one. It's one of the best out there, and it is free.
Cons: This new version has become clunky. It takes up more space and system resources, but it is still okay. It would be nice if this version came with an antivirus or antispyware. I believe the PRO version comes with antispyware.

"Secure, and strong. Never been harmed since use."
Pros: Excellent, user-friendly interface, simple to enable security, and asks you about any program that tries to connect to the internet. At first, it's a little annoying. Every program that tries to access the internet has to go through Zone Alarm. Then, Zone Alarm asks you if you want to allow this program to access the internet or not, with the option to remember what you said. For a couple days, you need to let Zone Alarm know what is, and is not allowed to access the internet. After you give all of your most frequently used programs access, every harmful thing that tries to access your PC is blocked. I have had 2000+ blocked intrusions. 1200 of those were high rated. That was after one month. If you're still using Window's built in Firewall, you might as well turn it off. Using Zone Alarm works better. Give this program a try. You won't regret it!

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.1.744
"Strong protection, set it and forget it."
Pros: Although dial-up users must endure a significant download time, the benefits of this program are substantial. The thoroughness of this firewall far exceeds what the standard Microsoft firewall can do for you. Blocking attacks that you didn't know were occuring is something that you will see with this firewall. Download.com say these are innocent "attacks" but nonetheless, I don't want any attacks. The options are abundant and the default settings are very protective. You should just download this firewall to see all the options because I can't go through them all. I also recommend viewing download.com's "how-to" section on how to configure this firewall. I also recommend going to filehippo.com to get the latest beta release. That's what I am running and it is fantastic and free. I didn't know how vulernable Microsoft makes their IE users but if you don't want to make the switch to another browser then you definitely need this program.
Cons: It will take a few minutes to get it programmed to allow all auto updating programs and any browsers that you may use. Once you get it running and set, you can forget about it.

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.1.744
"Best firewall you could get for your PC...."
Pros: I've been using ZoneAlarm for like 5 years now since the modem days here in the philippines. It detects practically every in & outs of your internet connection from intruders to worms installed on your computer who could transmit private data from your computer.
It also has "program control" that would regulate each application installed to your computer that may also be harmful or set an open attack to your PC. Well most firewall had this feature but this one you may disable it manually like i do so zonealarm won't ask you too many questions :). Though vital for security, i'm always on alert and never install any untrusted programs & sites.....
Cons: Alert advisor an overkill...
