An effective and easy-to-use firewall program, ZoneAlarm does a great job of keeping your PC safe from a variety of threats. ZoneAlarm makes configuring a firewall, which sounds like a daunting task to the majority of computer users, incredibly easy with a wizard. The program's Zones feature also allows you to assign different security levels for a local network and for the Internet. We found ZoneAlarm very good at recognizing and automatically including settings for our local network. ZoneAlarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers. This program includes four interlocking security services: a firewall, an application control, an Internet lock, and Zones. The firewall controls the door to your computer and allows only traffic you understand and initiate. The application control allows you to decide which applications can and cannot use the Internet. The Internet lock blocks Internet traffic while your computer is unattended or while you're not using the Internet, and it can be activated automatically with your computer's screensaver or after a set period of inactivity. Zones monitor all activity on your computer and alert you when a new application attempts to access the Internet.

Provides an acceptable protection more or less, but what can you expect from a free product?
Cons
Consumes a lot of computer resources/energy and the panoply of features offered for free is tiny, say neglectable. But again, what can you demand from a product you didn't pay for? I wouldn't upgrade it for the paid version.

Now I know why Zone Alarm has fallen off the charts. To make things worse, I PAID to upgrade my Zone Alarm. Money well wasted !!!

Hackers got in 2 times. Had to shut off computer. Computer got taken over. What a waste of money to buy this Zone Alarm.

VERY POWERFUL! The cleanest to use software ever! Blocks inbound and outbound protection and has a LOT of settings for you to choose from, but I will still NOT recommend you buy the pro version or any other not free version don't even download the free version.
Cons
why I said to not download this is that it has 1 major bug that everyone will notice! And that is some times it will make your internet connection go off and after you uninstall it and then restart your computer your internet connection goes back on, hope zone labs will fix this in version 7, but still this is a great program and it is worth waiting until the next version comes out.
