You have to pay for this $hit. This new version of ZA is insane. It attacks your system, killing system speed and resources. There are two differences between useless piece of bloatware and a computer virus....

Overall the new business plan for Check Point is not working out so well. Turning loyal, long term customers against you takes a degree of skill that I thought only iTunes had mastered. There is now a new contender for the throne of worst piece of bloat $notware since iTunes..... All hail Zone Alarm!

No redeeming features whatsoever. The only saving grace is that you can backup your settings then uninstall the product and revert to an earlier, working, reliable (when compared to 10/2012) version (eg ZoneAlarm 8 Pro or ZoneAlarm 9 Pro).
Cons
Mangles or drops received data packets (eg corrupts web images).
Causes PuTTY (SSH) & WinSCP connection drop-outs from corrupted/dropped session packets, timed-out connections etc. Doesn't matter whether the connected system is right next to you or on the other side of the world.
Doesn't appear to reliably disable Windows built-in firewall.
Game Mode (Allow) still blocks or mangles connections.Summary
I've been a loyal ZoneAlarm client for years. I had thought their free firewall product was robust, simple, reliable. As I needed some of the advanced features not available in the free edition, I upgraded to ZA Pro as far back as ZA Pro v6.5, and have renewed my support/maintenance subscription religiously, figuring that my money would be going to support the continued development of a superior product.
Regrettably, the quality of each version since roughly 8.0/9.0 has decreased, to the point where I'm recommending people investigate alternative firewall products, especially if running Windows in a 64 bit environment.
The browser virtualisation (ie isolation or sandbox) facility is broken, and makes browsing the web a hit-and-miss affair. You're better off running Firefox or Chrome with their own integrated segregation facilities.
The installer does NOT honour the choices you make. eg You de-select the various ZoneAlarm browser add-ins (toolbars, virtualisation etc), yet ZoneAlarm still installs them and integrates them.
Finally, it eventually bogs the networking protocol stacks down so much that when traffic flows, it's glacial in pace and eventually Windows will "blue screen" and reboot.
Checkpoint's customer support is a joke. If you actually manage to get someone, they only provide stock or "rote" answers. They don't appear to have the ability to analyse let alone resolve any real problems beyond "I can't install ZoneAlarm".
In short, avoid this malodorous piece of software like the plague. Don't waste your money on this product, spend your hard-earned buckazoids elsewhere. -

Summary
I was a HUGE Zone Alarm fan and used it to protect every PC in my house for almost 10 years. It was simply the best firewall and threat protection software on the market and worth every penny. It was easily configurable for novice computer users, but also had plenty of advanced configuration options for more advanced users. In ONE single release (v10 - 2012), it is now the WORST software on the market. Get it together Check Point, you just lost another customer!

Horribly broken installation, Unprofessional interface, Worthless as a personal firewall, bears no resemblance to what used to be arguably the best firewall available.

I HAD been a ZoneAlarm user since it first hit the market over 10 years ago.
What CheckPoint has done to what used to be a stellar application should be considered a criminal offense.
It is an insult to the millions of loyal customers.
This setup is horribly broken. The app itself does not work as advertised and will hose your system.
It is as if a used-car salesman become the product manager at Check-Point.
The person in charge of this update should be fired IMMEDIATELY
Avoid ZoneAlarm at all costs. It is PURE JUNK.
As a professional developer I find the fact that CNET allows this for download inexcusable.
I must now question the validity in ANYTHING that CNET says.
I have now switched to Comodo.
CheckPoint has blown it BIG TIME with this version.
SO far, they don't appear to care that this newest version of the Firewall is pure junk.
Customer service is nonexistent.
Support is impossible as their Web Chat doesn't work and they don't allow new users to post on their forums.
Support is limited to a 67 year old SysAdmin in Texas.
I'm not joking, this is absolute truth.

Summary
I have used Zone Alarm for almost two years but their latest update slowed my computer to a CRAWL! I spent almost 1.5 hours on LiveChat with two different "customer service" reps but with no resolution. Neither rep showed any interest in solving the problem. I had to tell them multiple times what version I was on, my computer OS, even my chip speed. The most suggestions they made was reset defaults and then reinstall. So 1980's.
They had a variety of excuses ranging from my version was not the latest - but their update program installed it - to they must have downloaded to me a dial-up version. Huh?
Their chat system was horrible - giving me constant erroneous canned comments and the reps saying they were not getting my responses.
The reps showed no customer service care and no technical expertise.
I asked for my money back under their advertised guarantee but they said I did not qualify.
I called my local internet provider and numerous members of that staff said they hear complaints regularly about Zone Alarm. They had me unistall Zone Alarm and install AVG Free. Now my computer is back to its old self and I am happy!
I hope to save someone else from going through my unacceptable experience. -

It is a major advancement of the previous version.
1. Has all the important settings which are located under 'advance settings' .
2.. Can Permanently disable useless programs from running.
3. All the Features are categorized into their particular groups, so finding and making the right settings should not be a difficulty at all.
(I can see some people have jumped to the conclusion that version 2012 is a waste of time n money, but its not, try looking around for some more time. N u'll find everything, its all there, but havre been further classified,so that novice users don't get confused)
4. It has a neat look n feel.
ZoneAlarm Pro 2012 is a perfect and ideal Firewall solution.
A Must Have program for any type of users, engineers and specialists.

I would count the ways this is a piece of c--p, but others are doing it for me. But, let me just say that somehow or other it changed my settings for wireless home network and even after uninstall and system restore, had to reset router.
Summary
Oh please do not download this one unless you are a glutton for punishment. And as TWB404 I have been using zonealarm since I bought my 1st computer in Jun/2001 and zonealarm pro since about 6 months later. Sometimes had problems early on and then later more problems, so finally went back to the free, since why should I pay for something I'm not satisfied with? Thought I'd wait until the 2012/10., but I am HIGHLY disappointed with this.
