Along with its effective and easy-to-use firewall and additional security features, this new version of ZoneAlarm Pro brings mostly solid antispyware protection to the table. ZoneAlarm Pro makes configuring a firewall, which sounds like a daunting task for the majority of computer users, incredibly easy with the included wizard. Maintaining and updating settings also is a snap when you're using the application's stylish interface and its simple slider controls. The app now boasts an ultrasecure triple-layer firewall, which safeguards your machine's OS and Registry. Experts will appreciate options that let them set up custom rules. The program's Zones feature also allows you to assign different security levels for a local network and the Internet. We found ZoneAlarm Pro very good at recognizing and automatically including settings for our local network. In all our tests, the firewall guarded against all external and internal threats it encountered.
ZoneAlarm Pro includes a cookie cleaner, an ad blocker, a pop-up stopper, and new antispyware tools. Happily, the app offers both real-time protection against malware as well as a scanning engine. In our tests, spyware scans were blisteringly fast and almost always accurate, though ZoneAlarm Pro did leave a few minor traces that some dedicated utilities removed. The real-time module also fared pretty well, but we wish it offered more information on potential threats from directly within the program. Elsewhere, we like the configuration options for the privacy-protection features, which let you individually apply settings to different Web sites. The ID Lock feature, which lets users specify what information the firewall should prevent from being sent out via the Web or e-mail, also is a nice touch. With a tougher firewall and the addition of antispyware tools, this excellent program just keeps improving.

Cons: I've got the leak test, find out this ZA wont help me lot, it still able to get through. Try outpost/kerio if u able to pay for it.

Pros: It's a good software firewall.
Cons: Zone Labs is trying too hard to make Zone Alarm into the be all security application in order to compete with Norton's Internet Security package. As a result one gets a lot of bloat. Even on and AMD Athlon Xp 3200 system, Zone Alarm added significantly to start up time. I recently switch to Kerio Personal Firewall. So far I like it better than Zone Alarm and it doesn't have all the bloat.

Almost normal log in speed, there's no significant decrease in speed @ my 1,5 centrino
Weird things happen... U r lucky if u can't connect to internet, i can't even open the internet explorer. I CAN'T open ANYTHING! NOTHING HAPPEN, i computer is not hang, but no activity [from the flashing indicator light]... i can open the start menu, but cant make anything working.
So how can i uninstall it? Thanx god there is save mode, log in from save mode, uninstall this $#!%.
Restart my computer...
Now i can open my iExplorer ^^... but wait, i CAN'T connect to internet 0.0 what the...
Re-install my XP, delete... no SHERD this $#!%
Thanx for the opportunity to practice my english, and now it's zone labs' time to practice in programing, stop joking around and do your job.

Version: ZoneAlarm Pro 6.0.667.000
Pros: ZoneAlarm has been considered one of the best programs on the market for a long time. The firewall itself is fine, and operates somewhat seamlessly. After it learns your habits, you can turn up the settings and feel secure.
Cons: What I don't like about ZA Pro far outweighs what I do. For one, this firewall has a problem with certain graphics cards, which is ridiculous in this day and age considering I have an ATI card in my machine.
For another thing, the tech support from Zone Labs is a joke even if you are a paying customer. God forbid you need tech help, be prepared to pay $3 a minute to talk to someone. And that is regardless of being a paying buyer as I was or not.
And the biggest problem that I and others have had with ZA is that it is a bear to uninstall. ZoneLabs went out of their way to make you regret ever uninstalling this program. Simply using the uninstaller does not rid you of it, and it is entirely possible it will lock your internet connection once you do try to remove it.
Finally, ZA insists on adding TrueVector technology in with this firewall which is wholly unneeded and just eats up resources better used elsewhere.
If you just want a good solid firewall, I recommend Computer Associates' EZ Firewall. I have had no problems with it since I bought it.

Pros: None
Cons: I agree also with previous preview. I wrote something similar but download didn't post it or I can't find it. This version of zone alarm is annoying as heck. A novice will be intimidated by the constant and confusing popups saying DANGER, when in reality it is a legitimate program. Because of the fear factor, many will stop a legitimate program from running. When I first installed this version, I ended up shutting down dreamweaver and many other programs not understanding the new warnings. It was a pain...I ended up installing dreamweaver again to get it to work. Now I don't know if I sould or should not block a warning that popups. Zone alarm just made it more difficult to know what is legit and what is not. In version 5, zone alarm did it's job in the background and you had no worries.
As far as it's anti-spyware it is a joke. Come on download.com...are they paying you for these reviews? I still rely on spyware doctor...if you rely on zone alarm to stop spyware you are asking for trouble.
all in all.....not only did they take a step backwards, zone alarm absolutely messed up a good thing. The reputation Zone Alarm had for an understandable firewall that did it's job while you went about your computing business is no more.
Lastly, I would love to see more feed back of those who have been a zone alarm fan for years. My only hope is that Zone Alarms listens to the consumer gets back on track.
