Along with its effective and easy-to-use firewall and additional security features, this new version of ZoneAlarm Pro brings mostly solid antispyware protection to the table. ZoneAlarm Pro makes configuring a firewall, which sounds like a daunting task for the majority of computer users, incredibly easy with the included wizard. Maintaining and updating settings also is a snap when you're using the application's stylish interface and its simple slider controls. The app now boasts an ultrasecure triple-layer firewall, which safeguards your machine's OS and Registry. Experts will appreciate options that let them set up custom rules. The program's Zones feature also allows you to assign different security levels for a local network and the Internet. We found ZoneAlarm Pro very good at recognizing and automatically including settings for our local network. In all our tests, the firewall guarded against all external and internal threats it encountered.
ZoneAlarm Pro includes a cookie cleaner, an ad blocker, a pop-up stopper, and new antispyware tools. Happily, the app offers both real-time protection against malware as well as a scanning engine. In our tests, spyware scans were blisteringly fast and almost always accurate, though ZoneAlarm Pro did leave a few minor traces that some dedicated utilities removed. The real-time module also fared pretty well, but we wish it offered more information on potential threats from directly within the program. Elsewhere, we like the configuration options for the privacy-protection features, which let you individually apply settings to different Web sites. The ID Lock feature, which lets users specify what information the firewall should prevent from being sent out via the Web or e-mail, also is a nice touch. With a tougher firewall and the addition of antispyware tools, this excellent program just keeps improving.

"Terrible Uninstall"

Pros
I thought it was great after reading PC World reviews and loaded it on my computer. Wow it's neat. It worked great until I tried to uninstall the program.
Cons
I tried to uninstall Zone Alarm Firewall and my computer gave me the Blue Screen of Death. I then found on chat room that mentioned the HUGE problems with attempting to uninstall Zone Alarm Firewall. I followed the recommended steps to manually uninstall the program and Now my computer will not give me any access to the internet. SO I am left with a complete reboot and install of my computer Operating system... DO NOT INSTALL ZONE ALARM FIREWALL it is not worth the effort. In summary, I am so fuming mad with this software that I will NEVER recommend it to anyone.

"Best darn firewall but can get irritating"

uncompromized protection with respect to firewall. Decent spyware protection (although, inferior to spysweeper). Vast program database so most monitering and moderation of internet access is done automatically.
Cons
Helpfiles are not as comprehensive as they should be, not a good user tutorial. Sometimes the blocking of legit sites gets irritating.

I'd wasted almost $100.00 when I bought Norton Internet Security Suite. It stopped nothing and found/fixed nothing.
I tried the 15 day trial of ZAP and was so impressed that I just had to buy it. Amazing! I haven't had a single problem online since I got rid of Norton and started using ZAP. It does too much to list but the anti-spyware program works wonderfully. It stops popups/unders, cleans cache, including hidden/locked index.dat cookies, triple defense firewall that works great. I like that I can customize all the settings to suit my needs. Being able to find exactly where hacker attacks are coming from is a real bonus. It does so much! This is worth the money and is inexpensive. The yearly update cost is a little steep for some but well worth it. THIS IS THE BEST program to cover so many online hazard areas AND A MUST HAVE. I feel totally safe using the Internet now and excited even. I was being bombarded with aboutblank popups and all manner of spyware before using ZoneAlarm Pro.
Cons
I dare anyone to find a con in this program! If someone does then they are just to darn nitpicky. No offense meant but try the trial and be safe and content surfing.

"Best Firewall I Have Used"

I have been using Zone Alarm Pro in tandem with NOD32 VirusScan for over 4 years. I have had no incidents of worm or virus infestation with this combination. Have always been able to access the update funtion, but you have to allow ZoneLabs access to your mobile code, otherwise it will not download. Having tried most if not all of the firewalls available I have found this to be the least system invasive and user friendly. Have never used the ZoneLabs VirusScan....dont really see the need with my current combination. Would consider this to be an excellent product and company.
Cons
Blocking individual components can be confusing...best left up to the expert user.

After using the free version for years, I finally coughed up some $$ for Pro. Overall, I like what I see.
1. All the good stuff in the free version can still be found here.
2. Like that the proggie includes Anti-Spyware check, but... see #1 under Cons below.
3. Love the ability to specify trusted ports (can't do that with the free version).
4. Greater customization than the free version (guess this relates to #3, but what have you).
Cons
1. I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned bloat. The Pro version seems to suffer from it.
2. For some reason, not all of my settings ported over from the free version to Pro. This was not expected behavior.
3. Pro seems a bit overzealous when blocking some programs (i.e. name variations of programs I've already approved).

Weird things happen... U r lucky if u can't connect to internet, i can't even open the internet explorer. I CAN'T open ANYTHING! NOTHING HAPPEN, i computer is not hang, but no activity [from the flashing indicator light]... i can open the start menu, but cant make anything working.
So how can i uninstall it? Thanx god there is save mode, log in from save mode, uninstall this $#!%.
Restart my computer...
Now i can open my iExplorer ^^... but wait, i CAN'T connect to internet 0.0 what the...
Re-install my XP, delete... no SHERD this $#!%

Let's get this straight... ZoneLabs is not really Zonelabs anymore - the name of the company that acquired *ZoneLabs* is *Check Point*
Personally, I don't think that this product can be compared with the original Zonelabs firewall - it certainly has more bells & whistles & it is more bloated, but it does not offer you the complete stealth good old ZoneAlarm used to offer.
I believe that real ZoneAlarm was discontinued after v4.5 & now we are dealing with a brand new thing by *Check Point*
I am not in the position to know if any original developers from ZoneLabs work for *Check Point*, but this is definitely NOT ZoneAlarm – Have it tested at “Shields Up" if you like.
