Along with its effective and easy-to-use firewall and additional security features, this new version of ZoneAlarm Pro brings mostly solid antispyware protection to the table. ZoneAlarm Pro makes configuring a firewall, which sounds like a daunting task for the majority of computer users, incredibly easy with the included wizard. Maintaining and updating settings also is a snap when you're using the application's stylish interface and its simple slider controls. The app now boasts an ultrasecure triple-layer firewall, which safeguards your machine's OS and Registry. Experts will appreciate options that let them set up custom rules. The program's Zones feature also allows you to assign different security levels for a local network and the Internet. We found ZoneAlarm Pro very good at recognizing and automatically including settings for our local network. In all our tests, the firewall guarded against all external and internal threats it encountered.
ZoneAlarm Pro includes a cookie cleaner, an ad blocker, a pop-up stopper, and new antispyware tools. Happily, the app offers both real-time protection against malware as well as a scanning engine. In our tests, spyware scans were blisteringly fast and almost always accurate, though ZoneAlarm Pro did leave a few minor traces that some dedicated utilities removed. The real-time module also fared pretty well, but we wish it offered more information on potential threats from directly within the program. Elsewhere, we like the configuration options for the privacy-protection features, which let you individually apply settings to different Web sites. The ID Lock feature, which lets users specify what information the firewall should prevent from being sent out via the Web or e-mail, also is a nice touch. With a tougher firewall and the addition of antispyware tools, this excellent program just keeps improving.

Version: ZoneAlarm Pro 5.5.062.004
Pros: Great Firewall gone bad.
Cons: This once brilliant product has become a totally unreliable and untrustworthy liability! The support system appears to have gone the same way.I loved Zone Alarm and would not look anywhere else ,but never again. There have been numerous serious problems with the last few updates, resulting in total shut down of systems.Fix after fix to put things right, but this prog is now not to be trusted.Have had continual problems over the last few weeks with ZA denying access to trusted applications but allowing access to blocked traffic, connections slowed down ,e mails without attachments blocked, slow start up and shut down .....
Tried removing and reloading ZA but to no avail, and then I am told by a popup screen that my registration is about to expire (NOT for 35 days!!!) and do I want to renew? How? None of the hyperlinks in the interface will work,I cannot get support or email to Zonelabs, the renew key wont operate and while I am trying to sort this I get a warning from Windows Security centre that someone is hacking into my machine!Zone Labs need a wake up call, but perhaps I should thank them, these problems have had me researching other firewalls and I have now found and paid for a program which I was told is far better than ZA ,and having trialed it for a week prior to paying would have to agree ,way way better, goodbye Zone Alarm, Agnitum Pro is better by far.

Version: ZoneAlarm Pro 5.5.062.004
Pros: Works fair, if all the bloated extras are shut off.
Cons: The privacy section is worthless. If you turn on either the cookie control or the ad protector, your web surfing slows to a crawl. If you disable both, then the firewall works fine. Obviously it is not the computer making this problem. I have tried both either being one on and the other off, and the internet still crawls. The privacy section needs revamped.
The ID Lock section is also worthless, due to the countless false positives that pop up.
The anti virus monitoring is also worthless, due to not indicating that the anti virus is disabled on the home page. The only way you find out if the anti virus is disabled is if you click your way to the behind the scenes page of the anti virus monitoring tab.
Sygate Firewall is exceptional to this loser.

Version: ZoneAlarm Pro 5.5.062.004
Pros: Excellent firewall and privacy features.
Cons: The pop up blocker leaves much to be desired, and the price is a bit high for the few things it does.

Version: ZoneAlarm Pro 5.5.062.004
"Why does this thing KILL my download speed?"
Pros: Seems to work as a firewall rather well.
Cons: Crushes my download speeds! Even with Z/A disabled, my downloads are 1.5Mbps slower!
Why is this thing such a bandwidth hog even when it's turned off?

Version: ZoneAlarm Pro 5.5.062.004
"The worst Software I have ever used!"
Pros: None!
Cons: ZoneAlarm Pro is highly unstable causing Windows XP Professional SP2 to crash at regular intervals; it also greatly increases startup and shutdown times. A component of the application vsmon.exe suffers from a memory leak resulting in a total consumption of all available RAM requiring a hard power off. The program also has a poor uninstaller which leaves many files and registry entries behind. Technical support is almost non existent, consisting of costly telephone support, poor e-mail support and a heavily censored forum.
