As usual download.com is a little late. This version 7.1 has to, as of today, be downloaded from "Zone Labs". Inn searching for alternate security apps for my "Vista" operating system, I found this app. First, let me say that it's very different then version 7. Unlike the typical first restart after install when you have to wait for what seems like forever, this version starts pretty fast. My general description is:
It looks like the free "Zone Alarm Firewall" with the new "Kapersky AntiVirus" engine.
The initial update is kind of slow and so is the initialization of the first scan. In fact the scan itself is kind of slow but thorough. The detection rate is very high. It found, in the first 5,200 files scanned, one infection that the "Trend Micro Suite" missed. In the first 18,000 files, three more. Impressive! Removal and treatment options all work as I'd hoped. So far, It looks pretty good so far.
This is the first machine I've been able to run the "Kapersky AV" engine without conflict and the app gets along well with "Counter Spy" "Zone Labs" is giving great deals on the new "Vista" ready versions so now is the time to get it if this is what you want to run as a firewall and anti virus. This app can be purchased, now with a one year license for $19.95, which is cheap in my book. So far, I can recommend this app without reservation.
Cons
I'd like to see the firewall with all the features of the firewall in the internet security suite and I'd also like to see a faster scan. It takes some time to understand and the detections in the first scan should all be read and looked at closely prior to taking any action, especially for those not used to ?Kapersky?s? anti virus. Other then this, no further cons. this is a good alternative at the price you can get it for now!

I had a slight problem with TRUE VECTOR. It confussed me for a while but one of my freinds sorted it out for me.

Great firewall with improved interface, antivirus updates in background HOURLY (as does Kaspersky 6), scans remain in background nicely, light on resources generally. Email support usually responds within a few hours, also good support forum, and a 30 day money-back warranty .
Cons
Antivirus scans slowly on big compressed files, but that's adjustable. Don't know how many of the advanced Kaspersky features the ZA version incorporates, but for $20 via ZA site upgrade discount, not complaining..
Automatic antivirus updates took 3 days to start up, support couldn't explain that; but there is a 21 day "learning period" for the software, and it works fine now.

No matter how many times I ticked the 'Load ZoneAlarm Anti-virus at startup,' the tick just kind of disappear somewhere and so, ZAA never show up at startup

I love the way ZA protected my computer with it's free firewall. It was great as an internet security suite.
Cons
It's hard to believe that it is still NOT Vista compatable. There is no indication when it will be ready for Vista. I had to go back to Norton's because of this delay.
