This spyware zapper quickly takes care of business but isn't quite as nimble as many other competitors. We're fans of ZeroSpyware's attractive and straightforward interface. In terms of performance, this application is somewhat more of a mixed bag, detecting some--but not all--adware components installed on our PC. This is possibly because the free program won't let you update its database of known offenders. Also, the active-protection module noticed only one of five pieces of malware in our system memory and didn't block any while they were installing. The good news is scans took considerably less time than Ad-Aware or Spybot-Search & Destroy and didn't tax our PC's overall performance. Before deleting spyware components, the utility backs them up and explains why found entries can be hazardous to your computer. Despite a small feature set and some reliability issues, we think ZeroSpyware could be of some use to folks pressed for time.

manual and limited updates, doesn't work on Windows 7, risk assessment is wrong.
Summary
This could be a great little program if the free version had more options like limited real time protection and auto signature updates. It also flags up minor risks like tracking cookies as a medium threat level and has silly looking skulls and crossbones!!This looks like a scare tactic to maybe encourage you to buy the full version which is wrong as the program should speak for itself but a guess some people may get fooled into it.
The interface is simple and its easy to set up and i unchecked it to auto start as there is no point with no realtime protection. I would also change the auto scan settings from daily to weekly or monthly. They should really take a look at the default settings as again they are too strict which would make it intrusive and although security is a major concern running Windows its not as urgent as this program would suggest. On the plus side a full scan is quick and after you set it up properly it works well but i would not recommend it as my primary spyware program but more of a good secondary scanner.With a few changes it has potential to be a good program but there is much better freeware out there at the moment.. -

Summary
It works well and helps remove a lot of what you do not need in your computer. Easy to install and esay to use. As for anything that it missed, no product is perfect. I plan to continue using it.

Ease of use, removed the spywares(at least thats what they say), doesnt slow the com down even though scanning is running on the background, updates easily and showing clearly what it is updating and lots more...

Excellent recognition of spyware. Found some items that weren't found on other programs.
Cons
Speed. Takes quite a long time run to start and run the scan. Also, being a large program,( 31mb ) it seems to slow down the computer somewhat. So if you keep it shutdown and use on demand and then shut it back down it's OK.

i ran this first and thee were 25 spyuwares, which it quarenteened, not removed---then i ran adware and it FOUND AND REMOVED 255 spywares.......and btw......it tells u that it is sending data to their website---(after all, that is a small price to pay for it being free---they say)....hump..not....they installed spyware themselves, and i cant get the sob off the pc.....can u believe this.how bad is that....

I have never written a review here but I just had to let people know how glad I am for downloading this Zero Spyware free edition. My 12 nephew downloads games every few hours. So, for the second time in the past few weeks, I would get my web browser open up a new window and it would be some time of advertisement . I knew I had some time of file/spyware/malware/hackware. I download like 3 different softwares but the problem still happened. I was about ready to delete that username on my XP start up menu like I had done last time
since I could not fix the problem. I had Spyware Doctor 3 on my flash drive and it had told me that I had mslagent adware (something like that) but I don't know why when I clicked remove it...it didn't remove it. Well, I don't know how I found this software. I think I was searching the net and typing mslagent and it took me the ZeroSpyware web site and it said it is available for free at download. Well, I don't know why it gave me the Zero Spyware 2005 and not the free one. I download it and I was thinking...we does the software say I only have 15 days to use it? I thought it was free. Any ways...I decided to download the free one and I scanned my computer and it found a lot spyware files that my Spyware Terminator did not find and more important (and the reason I am posting)...it
found those spyware that was causing those browser high jacks. I am keeping this software along with Spy Terminator since the free version of this does not use real time protection but I might someday download the Zero Spyware 2005 because it says if it finds a spyware...it will place it in quarantine right away and
sometimes...I don't know if a file is a good file or a bad file when Spy Terminator asks me if they should block it or not. Well...I am real happy I have this software and I recommended it. I download from download.com often by the way (this could be the last spyware you'll ever download. It can take like one hour to scan your computer but it's worth it.

Took an eon to download.Them my pc decided to freeze up on me.It restarted on its own then restarted and did the same thing again.Its an awful application.I'm glad it worked for some of you, but I found it a right PIG! Yuk! what a horrible thing! I had to do a system restore to rid me of this beast!

I think that this program finds a lot of errors and spyware, and evreybody can discover that, besides this program has a beautiful frontend, It's wonderful and a trusted program

This software is so so boring and welly slow, If you want run it in a slow Pc or without running scandisk or defrag before two weeks ,You should run this program all the night.
