Simple as can be, ZapPop The PopUp Killer does its job, but proves to be a drag. You can install it and go, since configuration is limited to adding it to the Windows start-up, and setting sounds. It's worth noting that you can use any sound on your system for the pop-up-killing accompaniment; just point to any WAV file. In terms of functionality, ZapPop makes quick work of destroying pop-up windows before they open. Unfortunately, it slows down Internet Explorer significantly, a major drawback. With so many freeware programs offering the same or more functionality without any impact on surfing speed, we wouldn't recommend ZapPop as a leader in this crowded sphere.
