From Anuj Seth :Yahoo Mail disabled free access to its POP3 service in April 2002. This resulted in many people (including myself) to look for alternative free POP3 services. But this exercise can be very difficult because of the fact that your Yahoo Mail address could be with several people and informing all of them about your new email address could prove to be a nightmare. So, YahooPOPs was born. YahooPOPs is an open-source initiative to provide free POP3 access to your Yahoo Mail account. This application emulates a POP3/SMTP server and enables popular email clients like Outlook, Netscape, Eudora, Mozilla, Calypso, etc., to send/receive email from Yahoo accounts.

"There is now a Firefox Extension to check Yahoo Mail"
Pros: This is a handy program if you have many yahoo a/c's.
I only have 1 a/c so I'm using a Firefox extension which tells me when I have mail. A small icon (an envelope,and number i.e. of unread mail) sits at the botton right hand side of the browser. If you click the icon it goes to your Yahoo mail a/c. Much faster than YahooPOPs.
There is also an extension for Gmail.
Cons: 1.Has to be started separately with Outlook express, so your starting up 2 programs.
2.If you don't start it, OE will give you an error message saying it can't contact host.
3. Bit slow.

"Good product for.............no charge!"
Pros: Works great for me. If you like to use your Yahoo mail with a mail client rather than browser-based, this will work for you. Yahoo itself does not provide free POP23 mail (anymore). For all of those complaining about it not working, it is completely obvious that they did not read/follow the specific instructions for their mail application. I've used it with Outlook and Outlook Express, and it works great. So, if you use a free Yahoo! mail account, and prefer to use Outlook because of its additional features, this application is for you. I just find it funny that it works just fine for me, with one exception....
Cons: You have to make sure to tweak it properly, so that it does not download messages that have already been read (over and over again). This is easy to fix, however (at least for those of us with half of a brain).

Pros: I have 5 yahoo and many Gmail and other email accounts.Also always on ebay and with this program i will never miss an e-mail anymore.thanks ypops to give it free.
Cons: well i have downloaded latest version so i dont know about this one but go to yahoopops.sourceforge.net and make sure read all the info how to install it. because it can get a little tricky.

"Junk, tried 3 versions and none worked."
Pros: I guess the only pro was I didn't have to pay for it, but why would u pay for junk code?
Cons: downloaded and ran .5, .6, .7 .....all 3 versions stopped my machine from working. I couldn't even end the process in Taskmanager, nor the process tree. When I turned the computer on again after unplugging it, my anti-virus auto-protect was no longer activated !!!! I'm going to look for something that works. I should have known better, when I saw the version was numbers were .5,.6,.7 What ever happened to 1.0??? or maybe the author is trying to say this is still beta ->->-> NOT EVEN!!!!!!!!!!!
I also think that download.com should allow me to give this NO stars in reviewing it, but I must give it at least one, just to submit this form. Don't let that fool you into thinking it's any good. NO STARS!!! IT S U C K S
