"Improving early effort but consumes a LOT of memory"
Version: Yahoo Zimbra Desktop beta 3 (build 1249)
Pros
I liked several features - able to use with Yahoo, Gmail and (I think) Windows Live Mail. Works with IMAP! Decent, not great interface. Easy to set up accounts in all of the above.
Cons
No offline help file. Calendar import improving but still not ready. Limited ability to change reading plain text font (must use <ctr +> and <ctr ->) and the + and - steps are large - jumping from about 10 to about 14 with nothing in between.
Summary
A very ambitious project to develop Yahoo Zimbra Desktop. An excellent start but there are still bugs, in on my Win XP Home SP 3 machine, memory tied up in Zimbra is 130-150 MB (mostly in caching messages, I think).

"Slow but give me an alternative"
Version: Yahoo Zimbra Desktop beta 3 (build 1249)
Pros
Pretty Functional manages many many things.
Cons
Slow, more bugs than outlook.
Summary
I really like it as an outlook substitute

"Yahoo doesn't get it"
Version: Yahoo Zimbra Desktop beta 3 (build 1249)
Pros
Looked great....functioned great
Cons
I deleted this because.
1. Having to update with new versions/reinstalls every other day isn't going to cut it with me.
2. The last update/reinstall lost my address book I had just updatedSummary
Yahoo just does not get it...By far they inconvenience their users and customers more than anyone else on the web. Google should run the other way before they end up the same....I am an online retailer and I can tell you that from the perspective of being the webmaster of my own site everything I have tried with Yahoo has been horrible...From product submit to the desktop e mail client that just wasted my time....I should have known better.

"A Good Start"
Version: Yahoo Zimbra Desktop beta 3 (build 1249)
Pros
Manages a lot of different email services with quick setup wizard for popular services
Allows Yahoo! email to be checked without getting Yahoo! Mail Plus
Good looking program
Offers some robust options like a calendar, notebook, tasks, briefcase, etcCons
Must change settings for each mail account individually
Included themes sometimes move around locations for settings and options
Installation and operation take a bit longer (updates improve this)
Support limited to online forumSummary
Zimbra Desktop is a good start for a new email program by Yahoo. This email client allows users to access Yahoo email without having to pay for Mail Plus. I found the installation to be a bit long. The setup requires you to be connected to the internet, as the program gets setup information online. After that, the program loads, and should be ready to use.
I have a very fast computer: Intel Dual Core and 3GB of RAM, so running the program for me was not very slow. However, I do understand that if you don't have dual core processors and oodles of RAM, this may bog your system down. Another drawback is that anything other than a handful of Global settings require that you alter the settings for each individual account. I have four emails, and this is a pain. Imagine if you had 10...
The program does offer a lot of neat features in addition to email. There is the calendar that comes with reminders, the address book, a document creator, task list, and more. In many ways, it looks like Zimbra is trying to make a replacement for Outlook.
Since this is a beta, the support is limited to online forums. I highly recommend users go to the website for zimbra and update to the latest build 1344 for a fix to some of the problems they are experiencing. Altogether, I think Zimbra is moving in the right direction with this client. If they can work out the performance issues, then Zimbra may very well become a lead email client. -
"Very Very Slow"
Version: Yahoo Zimbra Desktop beta 3 (build 1249)

Cons
It's very slow. Takes a lot of tym to load. Hog a lot disk spaces but less features.

"I Love The Beta 5 Release"
Version: Yahoo Zimbra Desktop beta 3 (build 1249)
Pros
a complete email client
offline support
syncCons
big in size.
uses 2 processors instead of one
uses more resources then thunderbirdSummary
all and all with mozilla backing zimbra it seems like finally there will be a competitor to outlook. thunderbird used to be my favorite but even with the addons its still lacking. plus with the code open source many open source communities are helping to develop it. and if this is just a beta. i cant wait to see the final release.

"SLOW!!!"
Version: Yahoo Zimbra Desktop beta 3 (build 1249)
Pros
Might have been convenient, but...
Cons
Probably the slowest email client yet.
-
"Pretty unnecessary"
Version: Yahoo Zimbra Desktop beta 3 (build 1249)
Pros
I couldn't figure out why I would need this. It also said it supported non-yahoo accounts, but I couldn't get any other ones to work... I don't know why you would need this, ever.
Cons
See above.
