This latest version of Yahoo Messenger with voice capabilities is a step up from the already impressive older versions, and a must-download for regular users of YIM. The most notable update is the integration of messaging services with Windows Live, a process that allows you to add Windows Live users as simply as your Yahoo buddies. While this new feature isn't nearly as interoperable as Trillian, the plus side is users can still enjoy the lively emoticons and avatars, the extensive plug-in library developers can contribute to, and VoIP services exclusive to the Yahoo experience. Users should be forewarned that the download stub will finish installing the program online, and that the download includes bundled software that may install unwanted programs. In the preinstallation window, click over to custom install to deselect the extra browser services such as the Yahoo toolbar. We could also live without the all-consuming corporate sponsorship of the IMVironments and the heavy-handed branding in the avatar section (who uses those, anyway?), and it would be nice to see a link to hidden smileys in the emoticon drop-down, but these are minor niggles when weighed against the benefits of a user-friendly, feature-rich chat client that only continues to improve.

Has a lot of flexibility in the communication department. PC to PC calling as well as PC to phone calling, you can have MSN users PM you, webcam, and voice communication. Establish communication conferences. The program seems to have matured a lot since the 5.0, and 6.0 days. I have to admit I wasn't a big user of Yahoo's Messenger, but now I think I am a Yahoo Messenger user.
Cons
Biggest cons from what I can gather so far is lack of customizability for menus, and menu boxes. You can't change sizes of such things. Also it has banner ads, but it's free, so it's really not that big of deal considering what you get.

I have Been using Yahoo Messenger For 2 years now and am stil using it, Overall I am happy with it.Although i have not tired too many othor IM programs to compare it well enough , i could tell you that it has very good chating . the voice communication i would say would be the best thing about this program that beats the rest. Windows Live Messenger For e.g has an echo during voice communication while yahoo messenger does'nt. the file sharing is also much easier than windows live messenger as you cannot share all file types on windows live messenger but on yahoo messenger you can share anything. Yahoo messneger also has a plugin feature that allows you too customize The program. There is many things to do with this messenger that many othor IM programs dont have . IN GENERAL I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM.

its getting very popular , and once a program gets popular you should be very careful in using it as many hackers, malicous software makers etc target the most popular software used by othors. lets just hope YAHOO will increase the security of this great program in the future.
