"Appallingly bad. No stars if possible."

    July 20, 2014   |   By howardferns

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

    Erm...erm....erm...It's free.

    Cons

See below. Only 1,000 characters allowed here.

    Summary

I have finally reached the end of my tether with Yahoo Mail.
When I go to log in, the first thing I usually see is a screen advising me to change my browser. I'm sorry if you don't like Opera, Yahoo, but I'm happy with it and I'm not changing just to please you. Fortunately this screen is replaced by the login page without me having to do anything.
As you type your username and password, the brightly coloured message on the left suddenly changes like a quick flash, I'm sure it is deliberately done to attract your attention.
I always untick "Keep me signed in". There is no option to keep it unticked. To me there is something sinister about Yahoo keeping me signed in. I am neurotic about this. Maybe they are tracking my browsing or something at the same time, I don't know.
Next a window opens, "Help us to keep your account safe", where you must click on "Continue".
"Change your password" window opens. No, I'm sticking with the complex one I've got. Click on "Skip for now".
"Add you mobile number" window opens. I'm not giving you my mobile number! Click on "Skip for now".
My inbox appears at last, but frustratingly it is frozen until the "Personalize your inbox with a theme" window has appeared. Click on "Not now", and at long last I can deal with my mail.
All this, just to read or send email, what a performance. But not any more. I've created an account with Outlook where my inbox opens straight after login, and I've set Yahoo to forward everything to Outlook. Once everyone has got used to my new address I will sever the tie with Yahoo. Good riddance to them!

    Updated on Jul 21, 2014

Update: I wrote in my review, "I've set Yahoo to forward everything to Outlook", and that is precisely what Yahoo is doing, it is fowarding EVERYTHING, including each new spam message that arrives in the Yahoo spam folder. That's another reason not to like the p.o.s. that is Yahoo Mail.

"Pitiful...only ranks this high for past performance"

    May 22, 2014   |   By gilstrr

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

At least it's still in English.

    Cons

Everything. Poor format, all emails in string now are in the same email, weak font, unclear identification between read and unread emails, etc.

    Summary

Give us the option to revert to a usable, user-friendly format or I'm gone and this has been my only personal email from the beginning. Y'all struck out on this update. You have 1 week!

"Utterly infuriating - I'm outta here"

    April 21, 2014   |   By eggmammal

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

    All sadly gone

    Cons

I find the new set up completely frustrating. It used to be simple and highly functional, it now drives me insane. Even trying to reply to messages has become something of a guessing game because if the message is embedded in one of the new chains they have created, I cannot be sure I am actually responding to the person I intend.

    Summary

I have stuck with it for a few months hoping I'd adapt, but this morning I have become so completely hacked off with it that I am definitely moving my address and email contacts to my ISP domain. Yahoo mail has me swearing at the screen in frustration.

After 15 years of good use, this new yahoo email is just a waste of time. Why take such a functional product and utterly ruin it? Yahoo mail is now pants. Rubbish.

"NO STARS!!! A Once Great Service Is Now Dead!"

    February 27, 2014   |   By sounddude51

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

There are no pros with Yahoo anymore!

    Cons

    Everything!

Yahoo is quickly being killed by their management. Their web hosting is the worst online. Their once great email client is gone!

    Summary

Don't even consider using anything associated with the name Yahoo! As the many other reviews here have said, they are history.

They were my first email address in 1997. I have used them since, along with server based email, Gmail and AOL. No more.

Every time Thunderbird tries to check my Yahoo mail account, it chokes. In going to Yahoo, the reason it chokes is because now I'm required to enter a Captcha, every single time to check my mail. This just happened in January 2014 after 15 years of use!

I will be saving all of my email to my computer and then discontinuing all Yahoo activity. As another reviewer mentioned, I suspect that Yahoo is after money. If you spend money of their Premium email service, I just bet you don't have to enter in the Captchas.

Bye bye Yahoo! You were the best at one time. Now you are the worst...and are history!

    "Yahoo is not for Professionals"

    February 10, 2014   |   By threeactformula

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

It is average when it works.

    Cons

It never works, too many ads that slow down your browser, the biggest con is now I have to change everything I ever did with Yahoo to Google (Gmail) because I can no longer take the amateur/ unreliable performance of Yahoo. Yahoo should just become a useless web story blog filled with useless ads & popups.

    Cons

all my old emails are on it using for last 5 years, and now I'll have to move them if I want to save them

"From the email leader to the toilet in 1yr!"

    January 20, 2014   |   By camelshake

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

I honestly have nothing good to say about yahoo email.

    Cons

    Slow
    Buggy
    Filled with Errors
    Lack of security
    Spam
    Too many ads
    Heard enough?

    Summary

I've had my yahoo email address since 1999 or 2000. I used to be proud to be part of the yahoo family. I have a lot of brand loyalty with the service and products I use. For the last two years it's truly been unbearable. The email application is AWFUL! I held on as long as I could. Yahoo just simply has not responded to there loyal user customer feedback. (They should have learned this lesson from Blackberry). My account has been hacked over 10 times this past year, tons of errors, slow laggy performance, loaded with ads. After 15yrs, I jumped ship to Microsoft!! Best decision I ever made! Sorry Yahoo but keep this up and you'll be reporting some serious losses soon!!

"PURE JUNK....Just a portal for Yahoo Ads and Spam."

    December 11, 2013   |   By lot812

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

NONE! Cnet Needs To Review the NEW Yahoo and UPDATE their recommendations of Yahoo email. They will see that it is now,Junk.

    Cons

ADS galore. Can not use the email for the all the ads and pop ups and intransigent ads that are sent to you by Yahoo.

    Summary

Save yourself some headaches and stay away from Yahoo. I tried the paid yahoo some time ago and had issues with it, too.
If you have Yahoo email....best to find one that is usable and user friend and not just a portal for ads.
Yahoo email is now call SPAM MAIL and YOU CAN NOT STOP THE Ads from Yahoo.
Appears the lady the took it over, wants to get rid of Yahoo email for the public.
