The free Outlook add-on Xobni beats the pants off Outlook's built-in e-mail search. While Xobni's core talent lays in rapidly finding e-mails and contacts based on any keyword search, it also excels at surfacing meetings and file attachments, hyperlinks, and even personal information extracted from social networks, like photos and phone numbers.
Visually, Xobni displays a sidebar that slides in an out from the right and over the reading pane. From there, you'll be able to search for contacts and messages, and interact with the profile, message, or files from there. When at rest, Xobni displays the profile it's collected on the contact in question--from a hyperlinked e-mail address and phone number to a Skype plug-in, Facebook picture, and LinkedIn profile, assuming the contact has enabled third-party sharing in his or her social network settings. You'll likewise be able to get at the contact's network, and past conversations from here.
Xobni also makes an appearance in the navigation ribbon of Outlook 2010, with a search bar and a shortcut key for hiding and revealing the side bar.
Activate the premium version, Xobni Plus, for $30 (and a free, 14-day trial) and you'll open the door to broader search data (appointments and tasks), more powerful search terms (phrases and Boolean), and an advanced search builder. Xobni Plus also includes full text and direct e-mail filters. Best yet, Xobni Plus adds its index of e-mail addresses to the "To" field of every message you compose, sometimes replicating, but nevertheless vastly expanding, your address book.
Unlike many other Outlook add-ons, both free and upgraded versions of Xobni add functionality without greatly dragging down Outlook's performance. The interface doesn't get in the way, and, in fact, makes communication easier. We recommend Xobni for any Outlook user.

Easy access to outlook, quick sorting out of emails and finding attachments.

Can be slightly buggy if you don't get the install right. Can also take a whole to install.

Software never fully loaded; spent too much timing trying to repair, debug, reinstall, etc. Really like the marketing materials!

Slow, never launched. Will probably be a great product when they debug it.
Summary
The product should at least install fully before I have to repair it. Can't imagine an enterprise version - couldnt get this to work on my personal computer which has virtually nothing on it (in outlook) compared to my work computer. Concept is really great though.
BTW: In the FAQ section, looked for "Can I remove my data from the Xobni One servers?" and found this answer "Yes, there are two ways to remove your data from the Xobni One servers.
From Xobni for BlackBerry: Go to the Xobni application options and then click the menu button. You'll see an option to remove your Xobni account. If choose this option you'll see a dialog that allows you to remove your data from the Xobni One servers as part of the account removal from the BlackBerry. Keep in mind this will remove your Xobni contacts from the BlackBerry and from Xobni One.
From Outlook with Xobni: Go to the Xobni menu and choose options. Go to the Indexing tab and you'll see a button to delete your data from the Xobni One servers."
If I were a Blackberry owner I'd be highly upset to find out that a vendor that performed poorly also forced me to lose my contacts in order to remove MY data from their servers and the option listed for Outlook didnt exist at all - there was no such option or button on the page. That's an integrity issue to me; not sure I'd want to deal with these guys in the future. Good luck. -

Newer versions of Xobni don't really add much in the way of functionality, but they do what Xobni has done for years: index your Outlook mail and do so incredibly well.
The newer releases also seem to suffer from more sluggish performance.Cons
As mentioned, the new versions of Xobni reduce Xobni's functionality and are more bloated than the 1.7 version. Download Xobni 1.7.3, install and then disable the Xobni service to prevent Xobni from updating to a newer version.
Summary
Xobni *was* great software, and if you can get your hands on 1.7.3, it still will be. Lightning fast searches for contacts, attachments, and text within emails makes Xobni a really great tool.
The Pro versions of Xobni after 1.7.3 do offer more powerful searching capabilities, and if you need to search for words in emails from a particular contact, only the Pro version can do this. However, Xobni 1.7.3 will search for the same words, but just across all email in Outlook. It's not a really big limitation in practice.
So to sum up: Xobni 1.7.3 good, everything else afterwards, not so good. -
