This free program provides a number of helpful tools for working with digital photos. XnView's pane interface shouldn't disorient most users, as it uses a tree-like structure to let you view your shots and browse your music collection.
Our lone complaint on this front is that the more complex effects and filters aren't accessible via the main window and require you to double-click a shot before you can use them. Besides standard tools for rotating images and renaming files in bulk, this app also can convert pics among a wide variety of formats.
In addition, you'll find tools for capturing screenshots and creating basic slide shows, as well as a simple audio player. We were excited to see a utility for generating Web galleries, but we quickly despaired when we couldn't get it to work. Still, we recommend XnView to digital photographers who already have a first-class editing program.

From XnView :XnView is a fast multi-format graphics browser, viewer, and converter. It can read more than 400 file formats, e.g. GIF, BMP, JPEG, PNG, TARGA, multipage TIFF, camera RAW, JPEG 2000, MPEG, AVI, Quicktime. EXIF & IPTC metadata are also supported. The image viewer has an Explorer-like browser that allows quick and simple browsing of directory contents. XnView supports red eye correction, crops and transforms JPEG images losslessly, generates HTML pages and contact sheets, and provides batch conversion and batch renaming. Slide shows with transitions effects, screen capturing, WIA & TWAIN support (scanner & digital cameras), image comparison, file operations.

Pros: Fastest loading of thumbnails of any photo program even when looking at RAW files.
Cons: Nothing much I don't like.
Summary: Give it a try - you might even want to buy the deluxe version.

Pros: This is a simple program that I have installed on several machines from win 98 through Vista and Ubuntu. It is a nice clean easy to use browser and viewer.
Cons: I have used this program for several years and have never found a flaw with it.

"Simple to use, with professional results"
Pros: This program is easy to navigate, and has lots of useful tools. Anyone can use it with confidence, and achieve professional-looking results.
Cons: I have yet to find fault with any of xnview's features; It's a great little program.
Summary: I've been using xnview for several years, and am very pleased with it. I've never had any trouble with it, and it's the first thing I went for when I bought a new computer.

"Excellent Image Viewing software"
Pros: Does whatever you can think of with regards to the image viewing and managing process. The thumbnails mode of browsing through your files, good shortcut arrangement, etc. is very fast and comfortable to learn.
Cons: No shortcuts for ALL the styles of applying the image as the desktop background. Havn't found anything else yet
Summary: Fast, sleek looking, more than enough for all your photo management and editing needs.
