This free program provides a number of helpful tools for working with digital photos. XnView's pane interface shouldn't disorient most users, as it uses a tree-like structure to let you view your shots and browse your music collection.
Our lone complaint on this front is that the more complex effects and filters aren't accessible via the main window and require you to double-click a shot before you can use them. Besides standard tools for rotating images and renaming files in bulk, this app also can convert pics among a wide variety of formats.
In addition, you'll find tools for capturing screenshots and creating basic slide shows, as well as a simple audio player. We were excited to see a utility for generating Web galleries, but we quickly despaired when we couldn't get it to work. Still, we recommend XnView to digital photographers who already have a first-class editing program.

From XnView :XnView is a fast multi-format graphics browser, viewer, and converter. It can read more than 400 file formats, e.g. gif, bmp, jpeg, png, targa, multipage tiff, camera RAW, jpeg 2000, mpeg, Avi, Quicktime. EXIF & IPTC metadata are also supported. The image viewer has an Explorer-like browser that allows quick and simple browsing of directory contents. XnView supports red eye correction, crops and transforms JPEG images losslessly, generates HTML pages and contact sheets, and provides batch conversion and batch renaming. Slide shows with transitions effects, screen capturing, WIA & TWAIN support (scanner & digital cameras), image comparison, file operations.

"the only proggy i use to look at my pics"
Pros: my brother in germany uses this and that's how i found out about it and it's the only way i look at my pics now and i use it to crop them too.

"Excellent photo organiser and editing capabilities"
Pros: Fully customisable allows you to choose where the image preview, the thumbnail collection and the folder tree will reside on screen.
The array of adjustments and filters is ample, almost as good as that in ACDSee Pro 2.
And best of all, it is all done by a volunteer Frenchman.
Cons: Many of today's photo organisers allow you to move to the next picture with the right arrow key; this key is not used in XnView.

"Don't even remember downloading this app"
Pros: ??????????
Cons: I don't remember having downloaded this application so it must have been TOTALLY un-impressive. I surely downloaded and installed it and very soon un-installed it or had difficulties with the download or install.

"Very good, but there is a flaw with the video playback."
Pros: I like that you can view images as well as videos by just scrolling along
Cons: There is a flaw in the video playback where the slider keeps going back to the beginning even though you are viewing the middle or end of the video.
Summary: Great program much better than the others I've tried.
