This free program provides a number of helpful tools for working with digital photos. XnView's pane interface shouldn't disorient most users, as it uses a tree-like structure to let you view your shots and browse your music collection.
Our lone complaint on this front is that the more complex effects and filters aren't accessible via the main window and require you to double-click a shot before you can use them. Besides standard tools for rotating images and renaming files in bulk, this app also can convert pics among a wide variety of formats.
In addition, you'll find tools for capturing screenshots and creating basic slide shows, as well as a simple audio player. We were excited to see a utility for generating Web galleries, but we quickly despaired when we couldn't get it to work. Still, we recommend XnView to digital photographers who already have a first-class editing program.

You can see 400 graphic file formats!
I recommend to install Ghostscript too, to see .AI and .PDF files. The most friendly, most intuitive, 44 languages (thank you, I'm brazilian).

"Simple, powerul, quick image viewer/editor"
Pros: I've not felt so good about a piece of software in a long time. This application is truly amazing in the number of formats it supports, the flexibility of use, and most importantly the price. Now don't get me wrong, the Photoshop Creative Suite is the defacto standard when it comes to digital imaging, but this application is a bit more like Adobe's Bridge. Bridge is a tool for quickly viewing , copying, and/or moving the images from your memory card. However, it is not available for the PC. And even if it were the price would be out of the reach of most users. This tool works a lot like Bridge in that it gives you all of the pertinent information you need to decide in you want bring in heavier equipment to alter the image. It has a host of tools that allow you to modify the EXIF data, remove red eye, adjust levels and contrast, and resize; just to name a few. It has a list of effects that can be applied to images as well such as blur, sharpen, swirl, shear, and tile. And best of all it's free to use for non-commercial work! For all you photo buffs out there I strongly urge you to give this app a test drive.

"Simple, Straight forward ease of use."
Pros: Easy to make slide shows to burn to CD. Even friends that don't have XnView can run them. Explorer like tree means easy navigation. When you right click to move/copy a pic to another folder, your Bookmarked folders are available to quickly access the folder you want. This is the first and only program I've been able to figure out the 'Batch Rename' function on. Simple screen capture function with several options as to what part of the screen to save. The Help screen has full color screenshots with walk-throughs.
Cons: Absolutely none.
