This free program provides a number of helpful tools for working with digital photos. XnView's pane interface shouldn't disorient most users, as it uses a tree-like structure to let you view your shots and browse your music collection. Our lone complaint on this front is that the more complex effects and filters aren't accessible via the main window and require you to double-click a shot before you can use them. Besides standard tools for rotating images and renaming files in bulk, this app also can convert pics among a wide variety of formats. In addition, you'll find tools for capturing screenshots and creating basic slide shows, as well as a simple audio player. We were excited to see a utility for generating Web galleries, but we quickly despaired when we couldn't get it to work. Still, we recommend XnView to digital photographers who already have a first-class editing program.Publisher's description

Version: XnView 1.90.2
Pros: Simple to navigate. Tons of options. Tree view similar to Explorer. Very easy to make slide shows on CD. Screen Capture is simple to use with several options.
Not cluttered with a lot of functions that you never use.
Cons: Batch convert is a little confusing for newbies.

Version: XnView 1.90.2
Pros: As a 30-yr Nationally Accredited Freelance Photographer, I use several programs such as (now) Microsoft's IView and so so MANY more - going into the THOUSANDS of $$$! Dont *even* talk to me about printers! (Ugh]
This software is so very cool. To name a few: Histograms (must have to do your best work), Albums, and so much more. I have only climber to the Tip of the Iceberg with the program.
And, Oh My Gawd, this is a FREE FREE program! (Sorry, I'm beginning to hyperventilate.) Anyway, if you really want to understand all this has to offer and you may be a novice/whatever,go to the bookstore and pickup some sort of primer for, say PhotoShop CS2 or (if you dare) the open final Beta for PhotoShop CS3.
If you all want to get your pics to truly 'shine through' and I mean, REALLY do it right, take your time. Explore. Go to the adobe.com/photoshop site (and many other very very smart photography sites) and just check everything out. You will NOT be sorry. 25 Thimbs Up! Thx to the Author. I have the tiny little feeling some is going to offer you a 'few' bucks for your work. I do indeed hope so.
Last PRO Comment: IT'S FREE!
Cons: Well, not for the faint of heart. You have to do your homework (See Pro Comments). However, Rome - and good photography - is never built overnight

Version: XnView 1.90.2
Pros: multiple windows to compare images
Cons: pixel rate is horid

Version: XnView 1.90.2
Pros: The XN interface is very pleasing and soft. This product is equivalent to ACDSee-v3 (which I have PAID for). What I found that was great is that after I loaded the program onto my home computer, I copied the XN directory ran the program without an installation on another computer. This is fantastic for those who have to deal with being a Limited User.
Cons: It's not a meant for Profession Photo editing, but it's FREE and gets the basics done.
