This free program provides a number of helpful tools for working with digital photos. XnView's pane interface shouldn't disorient most users, as it uses a tree-like structure to let you view your shots and browse your music collection. Our lone complaint on this front is that the more complex effects and filters aren't accessible via the main window and require you to double-click a shot before you can use them. Besides standard tools for rotating images and renaming files in bulk, this app also can convert pics among a wide variety of formats. In addition, you'll find tools for capturing screenshots and creating basic slide shows, as well as a simple audio player. We were excited to see a utility for generating Web galleries, but we quickly despaired when we couldn't get it to work. Still, we recommend XnView to digital photographers who already have a first-class editing program.Publisher's description

Version: XnView 1.82.4
Pros: support over 400 file types, all kinds of images, media files, even PDF. organizing all of your files in one convenient browser. without any hassle. plus the basic editing tools can give an extra hand when you need to make some simple editing. you can convert(batch) file, make html page, contact sheets, slideshow and screen capturing. if you're in search of a powerful image viewer with some extra neat feature, this is your stop.
Cons: too bad it's main purpose is to view image/media files, doesn't have much of editing feature nor the organizing ones. but who needs all that stuff? it's ability to view over few hundreds of file(all kinds) sure would cover for its drawback.

Version: XnView 1.82.4
Pros: Can open almost any files. Even the .dll can be viewed as hex. Can read some of the pdf except it is not designed for you to scroll easily.
Some editing effects are useful.
Cons: Maybe the author should consider to improve the text edit capability, like faststone, where you can add arrows, text boxes.
Anyway, both are good freeware. I use both.

Version: XnView 1.82.4
Pros: It's a comprehensive all in one photo browser and editor. And it's free !
Cons: After trying it for some time, I find it is not as stable/fast as IrfanView. Also, the AutoLevel & AutoContrast is not as good as MS Photo Editor's. It tends to give too much blue. So I can't really use it. The embossing also leaves much of the photo in grey colour (like IrfanView), unlike MS Photo Editor's which retains the photo's colours after embossing.
