This free program provides a number of helpful tools for working with digital photos. XnView's pane interface shouldn't disorient most users, as it uses a tree-like structure to let you view your shots and browse your music collection. Our lone complaint on this front is that the more complex effects and filters aren't accessible via the main window and require you to double-click a shot before you can use them. Besides standard tools for rotating images and renaming files in bulk, this app also can convert pics among a wide variety of formats. In addition, you'll find tools for capturing screenshots and creating basic slide shows, as well as a simple audio player. We were excited to see a utility for generating Web galleries, but we quickly despaired when we couldn't get it to work. Still, we recommend XnView to digital photographers who already have a first-class editing program.Publisher's description

Version: XnView 1.80.1
"Unpolished but promising. Not a real alternative to ACDSee yet."
Pros: It reads/writes many formats (although this is not without glitches). It supports JPEG lossless transformations. Some batch functionalities that may be useful.
Cons: * Blurry thumbnails & previews (maybe auto sharpening will improve this).
* Slow thumbnail navigation - occasionally it refuses to switch to the next thumbnail while the preview of the current image is not fully generated.
* Poor printing support.
* Back & Forward buttons are missing from the Toolbar.
* There is no way to change the spacing between the thumbnails.
* Sometimes after returning from Fullscreen mode XnVew freezes for several seconds.
* Does not handle very well big images - in one case it refused to open 18000x18000 PNG and generated incorrect thumbnail.
* It generates very slow thumbnails & previews of JPEG2000 files (default installation).
* Does not generate thumbnails for folders.
* Some other minor problems.

"It's Great. It makes my life much easier."
Pros: It's one of those few great free downloads. I have found that most free programs are junk. xnView is the exception. It coverts just about every file you can think of. I do a lot of research. Thus, xnView makes my life much much easier.
Cons: Some might find it a little confusing at first, but I haven't found any real cons.

"Excellent, easy to use, versatile viewer"
Pros: I was looking for a viewer that I could use to create a slide show of my photos - in the order I select. After downloading XnView I had my slide show up and running within half an hour. Brilliant!
Cons: Things would be even better if there was a simple(r) and fast(er) wysiwyg-way to move my photos around in the slideshow during creation, to get them in the right order.

Version: XnView 1.80.1
Pros: I just love this product. Who ever's built it is a real user of slideshows! It has all the things I've always wanted in a slideshow program. And it's fast and easy to use. I can't think of anything that the XN View Deluxe can do on top of that, for me to pay for!
