Just like any common text editor for plain ASCII files, such a tool must contain a bunch of simple commands that allow the user to browse through XML files and modify them as needed. XML Spy is exactly that kind of tool. With its structured approach it allows you to quickly view and edit any XML or DTD document on your PC. Unlike the many Java-based XML editors available today, XML Spy is written entirely in C and is targeted specifically at the Windows platform. This results in a series of benefits for the PC user: it is a lot faster than any Java-based editor, fully exploits the Windows user interface possibilities (for example, drag-and-drop), has rich structure views for the screen and many printing options, offers unlimited levels of undo, and contains detailed find-and-replace capabilities. Version 1.4 also allows you to edit any XSL (Extensible Style Sheet) and 3DML (3D Markup Language) document. You may evaluate XML Spy for a period of up to 20 days free of charge.
