"Buggy"
Version: XHub Media Center 2.3.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is such a great alternative to Front Row; XHub has many wonderful capabilities. I only wish it worked well enough with other processes on my computer. It frequently causes Leopard to freeze up when launched (and the difference is almost immediately noticed), as well as disabling another preference pane entirely. I contacted the developer about this, but he doesn't seem to care. He seems more interested in telling other people how they're wrong than actually accepting the fact that there's something wrong with his work.
It's a crying shame, since the latest release of Front Row, while stable, has an even more pathetic interface. -
"Just Great!"
Version: XHub Media Center 2.1
Summary

This is just the best mediacenter app out there.
Forget about all the others. Trust me.
Five stars and great support too.
Why? It looks great! There are skins. Easy to manage. Just works. Coverflow on your lcd-tv!
All content available via a remote. Plays almost every video file even from mounted volumes!
Got a MacMini? Got a big Tv? Got loads of movies, music and pictures? Try it! Simple as that. -
"has potential, but..."
Version: XHub Media Center 1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Xhub has a lot of potential...so far, it's the only app that can launch EyeTV from within it using my device (Plextor ContvertX).
But, everytime it's launched it crashes my finder/dock...VERY annoying! Have to relaunch all my widgets again every time after I'm done using Xhub. The control over EyeTV is also very limited...I have a widescreen display and have to change the screen aspect ratio in EyeTV to 14:9 in order to make everything right, and I can't do this from within Xhub.
Lastly, I attempted to purchase this through Mac****** on 1/04 for the $9.99 sale price, which was supposed to go thru 1/04 and it was not honored, so I will not be purchasing Xhub, but it will be on my radar in the future.
Also, the rating I give below is due largely to the clunky support of my ATI Remote...this isn't some obscure, rare remote...what would be real cool is if scripts where written for the more popular of the remotes (like ElGato does) and have them as freebies when you purchase Xhub. Hell, I would even pay an extra few if it worked. -
"Good but needs work"
Version: XHub Media Center 1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Looks promising but interface and navigation needs work.
5.1 Dolby Digital sound in .Avi (divx + ac3) or .Avi (xvid + ac3) is downmixed to stereo/Dolby Prologic.
5.1 Dolby Digital sound in .Mov (h264 + ac3) doesn't play at all.
Crashed my HT Mac mini. Command Q, Command Option Q couldn't save it.
Had to hard restart.
When you xHub off, the Apple remote won't work with Front row. Had to restart.
If these problems can get fixed, maybe it'll be pretty cool.

"Awesome work!!!"
Version: XHub Media Center 0.9.5b
Summary

Wow! I am impressed.... I've just turned my G5 into a better than front row experience! It even plays videofiles front row can't since it supports more things!
I am so impressed! I am just having a little trouble with slow playback on HD material that QT otherwise handles flawlessly... and it's just a beta still!!!
Try it out, you might be in for a surprise.... I was.... and still am :)
