  Version: X1 Professional Client 6.2

  "Outstanding - quick, sorts my life out"

  Pros: You know sofware is good when it's your first port of call. If I'm looking for an email or a file I go straight to X1.

  Doesn't slow down my PC.

  Much better than Google desktop.

  Good interface, and worth looking for version 5.6.3 online which is free and does as much (so far as I can see) as the latest version for $50 - though it doesn't work on all systems.

  Cons: Would be good if it had multiple tabs.

  Version: X1 Professional Client 6.2

  "Fast searches, the best viewer which is fast too."

  Pros: Once the index was built, the searches are lightening fast. The viewer is by far the best viewer of all the search tools I have seen (WDS, GDS, Copernic). You can have the preview pane either at the bottom or right of the screen, and the preview is instantaneous unlike the WDS which takes forever to display.

  If you have screenshots or graphics in your word documents, they too appear instantaneously on the preview screen of the documents where your search word is found. Highlights the search words for easy visibility.

  I don't agree with another reveiwer that the interface was cluttered. X1 has the best customozable interface amongst other Desktop search tools. You can optionally switch off toolbars/window panes to your desire.

  You can sort the results by date / path/name etc., just click on the name/ date/time / Path / Document type above the search results (though it is not immediately intuitive to do that).

  You can even move around Name, Date/Time, Path, Document info etc., information in the results pane as you wish.

  On the preview pan you have the capability of increasing or decreasing the size of characters displayed or to fit the screen - very useful.

  Cons: Like to see the following:

  - Faster index build

  - A button on the preview screen 'next find' to take your cursor or view to the next occurance of the matched word (currently X1 highlights all the matched occurances though).

  - Under index options would like to see 'Exclude these files / these matched files' option. Though the same can be achieved with the current options by removing the filetypes that you don't want to be indexed.

  "Works as advertised and VERY fast"

  Pros: I've been using this product for a couple of weeks to search on desktop, server and Microsoft Exchange server and it works like a champ.
