X1 sorts through the thousands of e-mail messages, attachments, and files on a local or network-attached hard drive, and finds just the one the user wants. With each new keystroke, results are displayed and refined immediately, and search terms are highlighted in the list and in the documents themselves, in contrasting colors. X1 Desktop Search indexes and displays more than 225 different types of files and supports multiple e-mail clients, making it one of the most robust desktop-search tools on the market today. For e-mail, X1 supports Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, and Mozilla mail, and can search your archived PSTs.

"Very slow indexing, too many resource"
Pros: Fast file searching, based on file name or properites. File viewer to see document without software installed
Cons: During the indexing (every 30 mins) the pc is unusable...

Pros: It handles Eudora Email unlike google and yahoo. Very quick answers as you type. It saves me at least 30 minutes a day (out of 8 hours) looking for documents and Email. It paid for itself in about four days.
Cons: None. I love this product.

Summary: Super-fast and gives really comprehensive searches - better in both respects than anything else I've found. A bit pricey though unless you need to do searches pretty frequently.

Summary: X1 is one of the better search tools emerging for the desktop. Very fast with well designed viewing of results of search (>200 file viewers). Best of all... X1 was acquired by Yahoo and the tool is now FREE at desktop.yahoo.com.

Summary: X1 search isn't good enough to garner this price. I'll stick with Google and Copernic and let X1 flounder for another version.
