Publisher's description
From NASA :World Wind lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there. Virtually visit any place in the world. Look across the Andes, into the Grand Canyon, over the Alps, or along the African Sahara.
Version 1.3.1 optimizes imagery downloading, adds a distance measuring tool, and fixes several bugs.

Version: World Wind 1.3.1
"Amazing program allows you to watch the earth"
Pros: Images about any part of the world, fires, hurricanes, easy to use and navigate.
Cons: Only high resolution images of US, it could have images of important other places like London, Madrid, Tokyo, etc.

Version: World Wind 1.3.1
"Solid program, well worth the download time."
Pros: The ability to zoom in from outer space down to your own house is really cool. It has a very easy to manage user interface as well.
Cons: My only problems with this program relate to minor issues with place labels.
The most annoying issue is the fact that the place names shift when you move the picture, especially when close up. When you first zoom in, everything is fine, but as you scan across, the names shift with you so that they don't label the right places.
The placenames that are included, especially outside of the US, seem somewhat arbitrary. Just glancing at Australia, major tourist locations like Cairns are missing, while a lot of other small towns are included.
Also, many place names that appear when you go for a closeup to a US city are outdated, naming locations that no longer appear on the map, or giving names that haven't been use in years.
These are obviously minor issues, and overall this is an excellent product.

"amazing - but has problems with graphics drivers"
Pros: A truly amazing package that will make you gasp. Also really helpful in getting a grip on Uzbekistan and other strange places.
Cons: It warns that not all graphics drivers can handle its features. My Intel 865G drivers have that problem, but by fiddling with adjustments you can get good results.
Either servers (for high resolution data sets) are overloaded or the data is not there.

Version: World Wind 1.3.1
Pros: Everythins's perfect in it. It's so well illustrated & easy to use. For sure, the file size is big enough to contain so much information! And of course, no mountains to break to get the answer, World Wind was published by NASA! Someone has to be Einstein himself to find something wrong in World Wind!
