For Windows 7 and Vista, the Windows Themes Installer is a featherweight freeware tool for changing themes without a hassle. It allows you to easily install the necessary theme files into their correct locations, without having to memorize or write down long file location strings. Users can change the .THEME file, EXPLORER.EXE, OOBEFLDR.DLL, EXPLORERFRAME.DLL, and SHELL32.DLL from the program interface, as well as remove or apply previously installed themes. When running it, you must Run as Administrator.
Though it's not hard to change themes, this app provides a good way to mix and match existing themes with your own creations. Windows Themes Installer doesn't come with a backup button, but it does have a default theme restore option. However, it's still a good idea to create a system restore before you muck around with system files. In short, Windows Themes Installer is a fun way to tweak the "clothes" of Windows Vista or Windows 7 without worrying about how to get things back to their standard wardrobe.

Windows Themes Installer is a freeware portable utility which allows you to install a theme, remove a theme and restore defaults easily in Windows 7 and Vista. Windows does not allow you to install 3rd party themes. You have to patch some system files to be able to do so. To do so, you may use Universal Theme Patcher or UxStyle Core. After patching the files, you may have to restart the PC. How to use Windows Themes Installer: INSTALL A THEME AND CHANGE SYSTEM FILES: 1. Run the tool as Administrator. 2. Select the options which you want to install: i) Theme ii) Explorer.exe iii) OobeFldr.dll iv) ExplorerFrame.dll v) Shell32.dll 3. Once you have selected the options, click on the "Browse" button and browse for the file of the desired option. 4. Now click on "Install Theme" button to install the theme and replace the system files.
What's new in this version: Version 1.1 automatically patch the system files without the need of a 3rd party system file patcher.
