In a world of nondescript toolbars, this specialized freeware stands out with its effective and useful set of features. Winamp Toolbar for IE has a nicely designed, relatively uncluttered appearance. Users of the Winamp media player will find it complements that utility well.
The toolbar features an obligatory search engine field with a built-in highlighter to mark the search terms in the results it returns. There are also buttons that search for Winamp skins and plug-ins, various media (music, video, movies, games), and SHOUTcast stations in a number of genres (Americana, classical, hip-hop, jazz, soul, and more). Some of these options will require an iTunes account. Best of all, the toolbar also includes Winamp controls, so we didn't have to switch back and forth from our browser window to tweak how and what the player was doing.
The toolbar performed well in all our tests, responding quickly to our clicks and searches. Navigation was easy, so even novices will appreciate this free toolbar. If you listen to music while you work, or enjoy watching online video, this may just be the toolbar for you.
With the Winamp Toolbar, you can play, stop, rewind, fast-forward, and mute your Winamp player: right in your browser. There is also a feed and listing of popular SHOUTcast stations, as well as the ability to search for Winamp Skins and Plug-ins while listening to free music and viewing videos. And with Winamp Web Search, your search needs are always covered when you need to find anything on the Web. Version 5.52 includes unspecified updates.
