At some point, every computer user has watched her PC churn and wondered if there were some way to tune it up. Experienced hackers can get into the guts and do it themselves, but for ordinary computer users there are programs like WinXP Manager, which help tweak settings to speed performance, start-up, and shutdown.
The suite gives access to the inner workings of the XP operating system, including the Registry, file system, security settings, and details of the interface. The program's own compact interface effectively keeps this wealth of options organized, and an easy-to-use wizard helps guide new users through the initial process of optimizing the PC.
We recommend WinXP Manager to inexperienced computer users who want to boost the performance of their systems without digging into the internals.

"May be great but you have to add on's and never complete."
Pros: Hard to tell. With the needed add on's you spend a lifetime trying to download them and are lost before you get started.

Cons: It did cause me problems with one particular program that I had on my machine. This particular problem has already been addressed by tech support and will be remedied on the next version.

Pros: It speeds up my computer a lot, cleans up my desktop, deletes unnessescary files, and more! And it scans quickly for me.

Cons: This program fatally crashed my system so badly I had to re-install the OS from my recovery disks. Forget it.

"NO MANUAL FOR UNDERSTANDING THE UTILITIES"
Cons: This is a complex program. I received an email from the company stating they have no manual but only a program help menu. This is not enough to understand the uses of these complex utilities. A novice could destroy his computer by doing the wrong things. More help in understanding the program would make it more user-friendly. As it is now, it's only for the high proficient and technical user. There are similar utilties which do a much better job of explaining the dangers of improper utility use and instructions on how to properly use them. WinXP Manager is NOT one of these programs.
