"A great program."

September 25, 2005  |  By Fussy Madam

 |  Version: WinRAR 3.5

Pros

Very simple interface, options are easy to find and it all loads up quickly. Great range of compression options, and can work in background when working with big file sizes. Nice integration into the right click context menu with all files and folders from which you can quickly get up an options screen for compressing. A very well constructed, and functional program which is one of the best in it's category.

Cons

On larger amounts of files at best compression rating it can be a memory hog when working in the background.

"Easier and more versatile than winzip"

September 14, 2005  |  By ramsj900

 |  Version: WinRAR 3.5

Pros

A must have if downloading music, movies, or bittorrents

Fully compatible with winzip(*.zip) or L7 files

Simple context menu access

Higher compression makes smaller end files

Cons

If one chooses all of the context menu choices (some of which will never be used) it can slow down context menu expansion on older slower machines

"Agent.DR trojan bundled in the zip"

September 14, 2005  |  By GuyIncognito

 |  Version: WinRAR 3.5

Cons

Agent.DR trojan bundled in the zip on the uninstall file.

While detection can sometimes be wrong, I'd download at your own risk.

"The best compression program!"

September 12, 2005  |  By anw1writer

 |  Version: WinRAR 3.5

Pros

This program is the easiest to use, makes the smallest file sizes, and is constantly updated. The rar format is also vastly superior to the zip format because it is better at handling large file sizes, and has more options to create archives that can withstand physical data damage. It also has better encription to keep data safe from hackers.

Cons

None that I can think of
