This program uses a simple yet effective method of fighting all kinds of malicious programs. It inspects several spots in the Windows system malware is most likely to alter, including programs launched at start-up, browser helper objects, scheduled tasks, services, and cookies. WinPatrol consumes few resources and doesn't slow your PC. You can set the interval between checkups; the default is every three minutes. If something new installs on your PC, the program notifies you and asks whether you want the newcomer. This won't cure serious infections, but it will save you from annoying adware and malicious sites that hijack your browser home page. You can view full reports in HTML format, and the app even lets you manage which programs launch on system start-up. Improved cookie handling is taken care of by Pinky the Squirrel, who eats "cookies with nuts"--that is, cookies that contain user-defined nuggets of text, such as ads. Unlike traditional security programs, WinPatrol doesn't scan your hard drive searching for previously identified threats. Instead, it uses a heuristic approach, taking a snapshot of your critical system resources, then alerting you to any changes that occur without your knowledge.
Version 9.7.0.22 fixed default initialization for new users to make it easy for first time users.

"I wasn't very impressed........"
Pros: It asked for confirmation on every thing i did, so i guess it's got some use i guess. :(
Cons: While using this hackers managed to change my homepage, background, and install several attatchments with ease! I eventually had to do a system restore.

"Great startup control software"
Pros: Small footprint*
Easy to configure/learn**
VERY reliable*** - anything that remotely tries fiddling with your hosts/internet explorer/system services/ and any important file - u are told details of what is happening and woofy asks whether u are ok with it or not. Very helpful - it has saved me a lot of trouble by telling me details about spyware and malware attempting to hack into my laptop. I love it!

Cons: Every time I try to install the program I get the message C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEX.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. If anybody else experienced this problem, please tell me what to do.
