This program uses a simple yet effective method of fighting all kinds of malicious programs. It inspects several Windows system spots that malware is most likely to alter, including programs launched at start-up, browser helper objects, scheduled tasks, services, and cookies.
The latest version is fully compatible with Windows Vista, although it remains to be seen at how it handles malware that's been designed to beat Vista. The app consumes few resources, doesn't slow your PC, and is highly customizable. You can set the interval between checkups; the default is every three minutes. If something new installs on your PC, the program notifies you and asks whether you want the newcomer. This won't cure serious infections, but it will save you from annoying adware and malicious sites that hijack your browser's home page. You can view full reports in HTML format, and the app even lets you manage which programs launch on system start-up.
Improved cookie handling is taken care of by Pinky the Squirrel, who eats "cookies with nuts"--that is, cookies that contain user-defined nuggets of text, such as ads. Users who install a lot of new software will find the program invaluable.

This program puts you back in control of your computer with no need for constant updates. WinPatrol's goal is to help you better understand what programs are running on your computer and to alert you to any new programs added without your permission. Unlike traditional security programs, WinPatrol doesn't scan your hard drive searching for previously identified threats. Instead, it uses a heuristic behavioral approach, taking a snapshot of your critical system resources, then alerting you to any changes that occur without your knowledge.
Version 11.3 adds new "Open As" option to Delay Startup programs.
What's new in this version:
Added new Open As... option to Delay Startup programs and fixed the remaining bug moving programs to a Delayed Startup status.

Pros: This program is really amazing and an absolute "must-have" fpr every computer user. It increases the security of my computer enormously.

"Owned Plus for 3 yrs now - EXCELLENT!!!"
Pros: I purchased the "Plus" license 3 yrs ago and this program has come from Great to "The BEST"...it has EVERYTHING you need to control start up, hidden processes, cookies, hosts file lock down & everything else you need to know about the processes that run on your system (I am using Windows XP Pro). I have emailed "Bill P" who is the owner & creator of this program and He is very quick to answer questions and extremely helpful!!! I Love this program!! Worth more than the money you pay for it!
Cons: Absolutely NONE! You'll love the Plus Program.Buy IT!

Pros: lets u delete start up progrtams that are useless/malware and certain things that arent needed can be timed from 1 minute to anyhting allowing u 2 speed up ur computer
Cons: when u first get it or use it on a new user u get flooded with new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service new service and that is really annoying also it has no virus protection what so ever other than cookie protection

"Failed to identify ad-ware trojan virus."
Pros: Even though this program failed to deliver, it did have a lot of handy tools such as selecting what you want to start up when Windows starts.
Cons: After four hours and six anti-spyware programs, I finally downloaded SpyDoctor which found the ad-ware that I knew was on my system. It identified it as a DNS changer. This program was the first I tried, and it failed. It also had a somewhat difficult to use interface, though it has many more features than other anti-spyware apps..
