Don't let the hit-or-miss nature of the installation documentation throw you. Even if you have to update components on your machine, you're only moments away from DVD-viewing satisfaction. With an easy-to-use and visually pleasing interface and a bevy of extra features, WinDVD is a demoware dream come true.
The app provides unlimited, theater-perfect playback for the duration of its two-week run on your PC. A slider control improves on the usual Forward and Back buttons, so pinpointing your favorite movie scenes is as fun as watching them in the program's crystal-clear display. Advanced viewing-time controls let you repace the action to fit your available viewing time. The program also features a handful of audio options for Dolby systems and simple headphones.
A full complement of video options includes basic adjustments such as color, contrast, and gamma, as well as advanced tools for monitor calibration. The program's massive 30MB frame also contains great capturing and handling tools for up to six frames at a time. You also can choose to have the movie play as your desktop picture. Version: WinDVD 6.0
"Great if you like to see error messages instead of movies"
Pros: Product is generally free with your computer or dvd drive so you aren't out much money.
Cons: Get used to error messages like "Create Overlay failed" instead of being able to watch your movies. WinDVD has problems on systems that play movies just fine using powerdvd and other programs with the exact same setup. If the other programs are able to create the overlay why can't windvd?

"The best dvd player of the lot"
Pros: to watch dvd movies on pc winDVD stands apart from others. I tried all the dvdplayer available like PowerDVD, HeroDVD..etc. none could even be compared with winDVDs quality.It gives excellent picture quality with very good interface. A MUST SOFTAWRE FOR WATCHING DVD MOVIES. DON?T MISS THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: There r hardly any complaints abt this player The only downside I found is that it uses a lot of RAM but 256MB is enough with P4 1.6Ghz for the smooth operation.

"Software Is Great but quirky to install"
Pros: For all those who complain try this, run dxdiag,(already on the systems) then go to the third tab, Enable DirectDraw, Direct3D, and AGP Textures. Or change you video driver to the highest accelleration it will handle and that to normally enables them.
Cons: They have had this problem for the past 5 years that I have used it.
