WebCamDV gives DV camcorder owners the power to use their camcorder as a Webcam. Camcorder owners can use their camcorders for remote home surveillance and to broadcast live or prerecorded video worldwide instantly. WebCamDV version 2.1 has taken the concept even further by giving users the ability to remotely access all the playback/record functions, as well as zoom and focus the camcorder image from a remote location. All of this is possible while viewing the video in your favorite Webcam application. I was able to use it within an hour of downloading the trial version from the web on a computer running Windows XP and a JVC mini dv camcorder. The documentation is good and helped out with my initial audio issue. I will definately purchase the full version. Video quality is far superior than purchasing a separate webcam.

Trial install was a snap. I hope its 10 min per session not 10 min total on the trial. Could not get audio to work with instant messenger. The website said that works with netmeeting so you would think it works w/ MSN Messenger.

Im running a Sharp DV Camcorder.. i have tried a number of apps and all have failed... this software found the camera on re-boot and work first attempt..i thinking about purchasing the full version... unless anybody know where it can be downloaded or any other app which work? Summary
Was put off by some of the reviews where people had problems getting it to work. However, the trial version did work although I was using an older PIII with a 650Mhz CPU (It hung occasionally)
Upgraded to a PIV and bought the software. It works perfectly. Installed straight out of the box and has not had a single problem in 24 plus hours of use. The Camcorder that used to sit in its box for months on end is now gainfully employed and gives an image quality that the Webcam I had could never achieve.
